Yeah but the somebody being that champ now who just lost to the previous champ and didn't win since kills MMA legitimacy.

It makes the roster look shallow and the sport look desperate.

They should have done things properly.

Had DC won that it would be legit.

Now he's just some replacement that just got beat and manhandled a former WW.

Says you. But if we ask somebody else if they would have rather had Ryan Bader fighting Rumble for the title tonight, they might not like that any better. Cormier is still ranked higher than Bader. You might prefer Bader getting it since he was coming off a win, but another fan may prefer the higher ranked guy getting the shot.

There is a good chance Bader will get the next shot anyways. So once that happens, the issue should be resolved.

People are getting way to butthurt over this.

Nah they should have just had Rumble fight DC for no. 1 contender.

Bader fight Gus and the winners fight.

Make Vitor/Weidman the ME.

That would have been more legit.

The narrative is still going to be DC won the belt by not beating Jones and he's improved and is going to beat Jones this time and prove he's the best etc etc.

Bunch a hype job, then Jones handles him again and proves he was a paper champ.

DC will probably drop to MW then.
 
DC is literally the definition of a paper champ. The previous champ didn't lose the belt by fighting but its even worse because Jon handled DC less than 6 months ago.

DC must feel minuscule.

DC's only loss was too Jones, and he's ragged dolled most everyone else he's fought. He just finished the #2 LHW...he will defend now against the next top ranked LHW...

And are you this frustrated about the WW division?
 
There's no other way of saying this but Daniel "waterboy" Cormier is literally just carrying Jones belt till he returns.
It would of been a better story if AJ had won because of his victory over Gustafassen they'd at least been some semblance of legitimacy of AJ might beat Jones, not necessarily a favourite but a chance, DC is just flat out holding and shining Jones strap till he returns.
 
I've gotta be honest here, DC is definitely a paper champ in my eyes. I'm sorry but I just can't call a man who got so easily beat by Jones the champ, it doesn't seem legit.

Yeah WW has fallen from grace too. But LHW use to be my favorite so it's hard seeing it go to the gutter.

And a paper champ be on top no less.
