DC in your all time rankings ?

Had DC not rematched Stipe twice, I think he'd be top 3 HW all time (with only Fedor being the undisputed king). But he lost both rematches, so that pushes DC down to lower end of top 5 HW. That said, I feel like Stipe is about to fall off a cliff, and DC will end up being by far his best wins.

DC is top 2 LHW of all time. I put a heavy series of asterisks next to Jones name though, as he popped multiple times, which is embarrassing.

Out of curiosity: since you say top 3 or even number 2 at LHW. Aside from Jones who else would be potentially ranked ahead of DC in your list at LHW? A wand/Chuck type due to his longer reign of terror? Or a rua type due to his peaks being higher (and his lows were definitely lower too) ?

Well to be honest when I was writing the paragraph above I was thinking about how I hadn't really thought much about it before I saw this post so I wanted to give myself so leeway, and I wasn't sure I was actually going to put where I thought he ranked. Then I spontaneously thought about all three scenerios real quick and added my gun to the head rankings, with him at 2.

But to answer your question, I was considering Chuck Liddell b/c his popularity helped put the sport on the map in a way it never had been up to that point.

Also, keep in mind that in my head I do GOAT rankings a little different then others probably. I take the whole picture, but also stop at their peak. So, Anderson or Chuck getting KOed in all of those fights at the end of their careers isn't something I weigh too heavy when thinking about them. Instead I look at all they did before that, because that wasn't the same Chuck anymore (or Anderson after the leg break) and I'm not going to penalize guys for continuing to do something they love when it's long passed them. Now, you might say, but DC was old in his last fights too, but they were World Title fights, so I weigh those alongside the rest of his career because it was still at the highest level. If that makes sense. Ultimately DC would smash anyone other than Jon at LHW, but I had to pause and think about it out of respect for Chuck.

1 fedor
2 stipe
3 cain or dc?? i have a doubt

Definite top 5
Out of curiosity, who of these 8 guys does he displace?

Fedor, Jones, A Silva, GSP, Khabib, Aldo, Cruz, DJ

I'm not trying to be argumentative here. I've been curious for awhile about how and when guys not in the divisional top (or top 3) rank across weights. Since most people have divisional GOATs at the top of their P4P rankings, I'm curious. Thanks.

EDIT I now see TS didn’t only ask about P4P so never mind.

DC is kinda similar to guys like Hendo and Shields in that their careers and notable wins spanned multiple divisions, so it's hard to figure out where to rank them in any single division. But for his overall body of work I put DC in the absolute top 10 all-time

Skill wise he’s 2nd best at LHW and HW. Resume wise #2 at LHW and top10 at HW. I have him as #6 or #7 p4p GOAT

I think he is top 10 at LHW all time but not top 5 maybe the same at HW or slightly outside the top 10.

#7-8 Light Heavyweight, #9-11 Heavyweight.

And I don't engage in P4P discussions.

That seems ridiculously low in both divisions.

I would ask, who do you possibly have above DC at LHW and HW but I already know it's going to be an avalanche of Pride/Japanese org guys.

With DC having retired for a while, how do you looking back at it remember his career? Is he your HW or LHW Or P4P GOAT? Top 3? Top 5?

case for:

Beat big foot silva, monson, Mir, Derrick Lewis and Stipe (when Stipe when young as a buck).
Won Strikeforce as an alternate
UFC Gold at HW and LHW

case against:
After beating an elderly MW(hendo) and literally a barista (Cummins) he got a shot at Jones and well was outclassed.
He only has a mere 20 or so wins in his entire career. And the 6-8 of those against guys no one has heard of.
Was never the best LHW for any extended period (behind bones always) or HW (behind Stipe) or even fighter in his own camp (Khabib and Cain at hw).
Never won gold at Olympics
Is second fiddle to Rogan at play by play and being a company

"Never won gold at the Olympics"

Oh, didn't realize that was a knock against Khabib/Fedor/Silva/GSP/Jones/literally everyone ever. Seems kind of ridiculous TS lmao.

2nd fiddle to Rogan is the nail in the coffin.

Top10 at LHW and top30 p4p is ridiculously low for DC.
He has 3 legit wins at LHW out of 6-7 fights, cmon now...Gus & Rumble x2. Other than that who he beat? He bested gatekeeper Oezdemir, taxi driver Pat Cummins, 2 days notice post-injury AS and old 198 lbs Hendo. I think plenty of people have done much more at LHW.
