Agreed. My daughter knows we have good friends who are Republicans, and I don't agree with them about the best policy, but they're still decent people who are trying their best. I would be a real failure if I couldn't get that message through.

My position isn't that all Republicans are threatened by declining white privilege--just that the ones who are are a significant portion of their Southern voters, which is what keeps them from getting completely wiped out in presidential elections and keeps them having solid numbers in Congress. Say that's 20% of the electorate in the South, and they'd split evenly (instead of 20-0 Republican) if the party wasn't playing to those fears. What does that do to the electoral maps? See, when I'm talking, I don't stupidly misrepresent my own positions to make them easier to refute.

And my daughter is too young for all that, anyway.
