---So, initially pretty happy about this "easy" PR but having some buyer's remorse. When I rebounded I relaxed my upper back. Quite a lot. The bar started to roll but... pride and whatnot. Paying for it now. Pretty gnarly pain in my upper back on the left side. Hurts to touch. Full ROM though. That's got to be good.
That aside, this is an lifetime PR. It's tiny. But I'm happy about it. I squatted 190kg flat almost three years ago I weighed about 20lbs more. And it looked like shit. I mean this one is rough but... better.
Also this was the weight I missed at that meet so that felt good.
I still feel like I've got more in me right now. My technique was obviously less than great today. I was making all kinds of mistakes in my early work sets but the reps still felt "easy". DAMN IT DAN YOU'RE PLAYING IT FAST AND LOOSE.
Seriously though, I've been going off programming a lot lately. I've just been feeling locked on and extra motivated.

--My upper back is genuinely in pain. Hoping it's just some kind of pressure trauma. Something simple. I'm not sure how to approach it. What, if anything, I should be doing to help it. If anyone wants to chime in I'd appreciate it.

--As a result, benching was shit house. I couldn't set up without pressing down on this tender spot in my back. This made it the hardest bench session to date. Almost dropped the 250 sets... but pride bro.

--BW 175.4 this morning. Trending up. I WILL HAVE MY SUMMER BULKING CREW T SHIRT.

great work--just take it easy with that back. You'll be fine, I think. Usually, I kind of just instinctually know if something is *really* f'ed up, so just keep evaluating it and judging that. Very impressive job, and it's awesome to get a PR after a lengthy period of not doing so on a lift.

Thanks! And thanks for the input. It's doing considerably better today. The pain to the touch is about the same and proportionate to pressure. The area around it is less swollen. Still a full ROM with only mild tightness/pain when I retract my scapula.

My good buddy hooked me up with some lidocaine patches this evening. I'm going to use one tonight and see how that goes. I'm just trying to decide if I need to shift training. Guess I'll know better about mid-day tomorrow. It seems like a small detail to concern yourself with but I like to wake up knowing I'm training that day. Or not.

I believe I will err on the side of caution.

Real talk your surge in progress lately has been a motivator for me. Given that we are of comparable build/weight/numbers it makes for a fun bit of competition for me.

Thanks brotatoes. I just want to squat some fuckin weight I can be proud of regardless of my BW. Like you know, you don't feel required to follow answers up with, "but he he weighs 170lbs". As in, being questioned by a casual: "How much does that pretty mother fucker over there squat?" to which you respond "about five hundred pound" and then you pause because there's this moment of subtle body language where THIS MOTHER FUCKER IS ONLY SORT OF IMPRESSED BY THAT NUMBER and you feel almost embarrassed that the exchange occurred at all.

I think 600 would lessen the chances of that happening. So, that's a goal.
 
We're going to 200 now. I use a belt, and meow doesn't, I don't think he'd mind. Care to join ?
