Media Dana White on combatting piracy

You all sound poor, for the threads about supporting fighters & complaining about fighter pay, some of you can’t even do the bare minimum by purchasing a PPV to support fighters who get PPV points. Hypocrites.

Exactly.

To me that's the real game changer, once a paying customer ends up seeing a stream for the first time, odds are that they'll gladly spend that hundred per month literally anywhere else going forward.

At what point is it too little too late to debut some "all events all for 19.99 a month" model?

I feel like maybe 2 out of 5 avid ppv watchers would pay the monthly subscription fee while the other 3 are never spending another dime on main cards

I don't think it's too little too late. TKO literally owns WWE and the UFC. They could put both of them under one service and I think people would pay a reasonable price to watch that service. If they made it easy to watch both products I think some people would come around. People pay for convenience. Think of it like Uber Eats, Door Dash or InstaCart. Instead they make you jump for hoops for both products.

I would love to not have to have pop-up blockers and block trackers but there comes a point where you think this product costs more than multiple bills per month. Let's put it this way. A subscription to ESPN+ and paying for a UFC PPV costs more than my entire home internet bill does in one month.

I remember that; Dana said something after the fight like "this guy who we were watching, he didn't stream".
He 'apparently' stopped one guy, has Dana ever actually admitted a loss? The only time I can remember was when he hit his wife.
No idea, but I always wondeedr who that 1 guy was

Controversial (or not) opinion:
The UFC does not have a piracy problem. They are a business with a 50% margin and over 1B$ revenue, which increase every year, all of that while illegal streaming is and has always been widespread.

Illegal streaming is not an issue and it is probably not even profitable to try end it.

You speak the truth. Most people don't understand how the entertainment media industry works.

The UFC doesn't care about piracy or PPV buys at all, that is not their business. The largest part of the UFC business is selling the media rights of their content to a distributor for a fixed fee. Currently that distributor is ESPN which has bought those exclusive rights to all UFC's content for 7 years. It is actually ESPN's business to get people to buy the UFC PPVs in hopes of earning more from buys and other revenue generated by broadcasting the UFC events than they paid UFC for the content.

Stopping online piracy is about as likely to happen as stopping premarital sex.

Pipes dreams.

Dana is just being the delusional douche he is with no one around to call him on his bullshit

I've never really thought before about the possibility of purchasing customers that have never seen streams before, but I have a hard time agreeing with your logic.

Watching a UFC PPV through an officially purchased channel is a much higher quality experience than illegal streaming and when you are accustomed to a higher quality experience it is hard to accept less especially for someone that has shown to have the means and values the events enough to pay for it.

You are also wayyyy off with your 19.99 a month number. You ain't getting a beer at a UFC event for that bro much less a monthly PPV subscription for even triple that.

No it wouldn't. People in here will use any excuse to steal, the cards suck, it's convenient with my computer, I like the stream chat. Lol

Sure, it won't solve it completely. But just like music when you were able to have access to 10's of millions of songs for a very low monthly fee for many people that was easier than messing around with lime wire or whatever at the time. Many fans abandoned the pain the ass of downloading illegal almost immediately and switched to low monthly fee.

I can tell you for sure if the UFC PPV's were just included in ESPN+ for like $15 a month, fans would be done dealing with IPTV's or whatever links people use. Sure, some would still do it. But I'm sure the number of streamers would drop significantly just like illegal downloading of music drastically changed once the Spotify, apple music, napster, etc etc came on board.

My version of "If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college" is "If it weren't for advertisement blockers, I wouldn't be saving $1,055.87 per year in UFC PPV + Fight Pass."

Especially now that streamers censor and change things years later.

"I can't support a company with these exploitative business practices."

"You're a hypocrite for not giving that company money."

People are so fucking stupid these days.

Dont charge 80 bucks for shit cards
You know, you can just skip it right? If it’s a “shit” card why would you pay or even pay attention for it, mine as well skip it and do something worthwhile on your weekend with your time, but let’s be honest, even if events were 20 dollars you still would complain and stream it.

If you say so, continue illegally streaming events, but don’t ducking complain about fighters not getting PPV because of you hypocrites like you.

Again, all you clowns sound poor as fuck, you don’t have purchase every event, I don’t. I only purchase events that are worth the money.

I also only purchase events that are worth the money. That's why I don't buy any PPVs.
