Media Dana White on combatting piracy

Well, I stopped downloading music when I could just pay $10 monthly for Spotify. I download less movies and TV shows today when I can pay Netflix $10. If it's not on Netflix, I will torrent it instead.

I would be willing to pay $10 for Fight Pass if that included everything. I live in Europe, so either the PPVs are live in the middle of the night, or the PPV is filled with shit fighters, no way I'm paying for that.

It's simply a matter of making it easy for the consumer to make the right decision. I can pay, but only if I find it reasonable, otherwise I won't pay a cent.

BINGO!!!!!

If we got PPV as part of Fightpass or something(ESPN+) for $10 to $20 a month illegal streaming would drop drastically in the US.

I am seriously considering it. Do they have content in 4k? The only other thing I am unsure about is if there is an option to record.

I would imagine you could find those features. There are options out there.

I use Soplayer aka LimitlessStreams. It works for me but I don't think it has recording.

He could just charge less for a normally sub-par product. Even that Turkey guy is only charging 19.99 for his desert big oil money fights.

The relative value of a ppv today compared to a ppv 10 years ago is truly like one percent.

It's ridiculous, there's no way I would ever buy one. More money plus a bullshit subscription to watch watered down cards? Nope.

The ufc js holding the sport hostage. Abusive fighter contracts and aggressive competition with any other possible rival promotion means they know they've got the whole market locked down. But it isn't just a market. It's a sport. Fuck the ufc for reducing the sport we love to a cynical market domination for profit opportunity
Edit: my bad i quoted the wrong post. you should get it too though lol
IPTV is generally internet dependent and I WIFI my living room feed so isn't 100% perfect, crystal clear but it's close enough that i don't even think about it. Also, when i have company over to watch nobody has even noted it didn't look perfect on a 75" tv that would otherwise expose it.

Iirc, it's not illegal to watch someone else's broadcasted stream. It's illegal to broadcast a stream for others to watch.

However, I just do the ethical thing and buy it if I'm interested.
I'll buy a card it I deem it worthy of the price. I as the consumer have to make that computation, look the card up and down, the star power, the consequence of fights, how stacked is the whole event etc. I have to say it rarely lives up to the price on paper, in my estimation. So I buy a card typically once a year.

In my valuation, a whole year of UFC PPV cards should reasonably cost about what they charge for 2 events, say like 170, maybe even 3 events, then the 115 I pay for espn +. That's about 300-400 bucks a year, which I think is a reasonable ask for the average fan. Put it this way, I pay a lot less to watch unlimited baseball, basketball and football combined. But the UFC doesn't give me that option. So I basically contribute what I think it's worth, which I think is fair and honorable considering I don't have to pay a dime to watch any of it. If they would just go to a subscription model like everyone else is saying, seems they would do much better in the longrun. But I've long pointed out that Dana runs the company like a perpetual going out of business sale with no discounts, much like the boxing promoters he derides. Apparently they're making a lot of money but when you look at other sports it's clear they could be making a lot more.

Whatever though. I'm happy to have the options afforded to me as a modern day consumer. Taking advantage while I can because Dana's going to shut the whole thing down any day now, just like the music industry did with file sharing.

Copy that thank you for the info!

Do they still show commercials during the event after you've paid $86 in the US?

no but we still have to hear anik and buffer mention ads every 5 minutes.

Buffer: "this fight is brought to you buy Hyundia... new thinking, new possibilities. Visit your nearest Hyundai dealership today!"

*Jiri and Alex staring at each other for 5 minutes*

eh, I guess we'll see. One day if the other major sports (NFL, for example) get behind anti-piracy internationally, there will be some headway. Plenty of people on Napster said "try to stop me," and, they did.

Good luck. I had a cousin who used to buy them all because he has the money and doesn't really GAF how much they are. When I showed him the pirated stream when we were both stuck at a party for the Gane v Jones fight he never went back. He asked me for the link that next weekend and has been using it ever since.
