Media Dana White: 2-2 going into the 5th - Thought Strickland Won the 5th and the Fight

It was very close. Either could have taken that. I agree about the two rounds a piece and it was all on the 5th. I have dricus the last round narrowly.
Sean was to passive, dricus was the aggressor throughout.

I scored it for Strickland. Very close fight though.

The 5th was very clear for Strickland. 1/5 obviously Sean. 4 obviously Dricus. 2 and 3 were close but with Du Plessis moving forward although I thought Sean landed a bit cleaner in the 3rd.

It was a very close fight. Neither Could argue the decision bit I beleive dricus is the rightful winner. Aggression and octagon control were ddp all night. Damage looked bad for dricus early but sean took some later. Sean was back peddling for most of the fight.

About as close a fight can be. Dana scored it 2-2 going into the 5th and gave the 5th to Sean.

Sounds like the media is pretty much split down the middle as well. I don’t think a close fight = robbery. All it means to me is a fight was so close, either fighter could have a solid argument as to why they won.

Off topic, Dana reiterated 300 main event will be announced soon. Also, they are not considering a rematch for Sean vs Dricus.

It was a close fight that could go either way. Anybody crying robbery either doesn’t know what they’re watching or are very biased. Either way should be ignored.

It was close you can’t complain but got beat the champ imo

Horrible card entertainment wise

It wasn't even remotely close. Sean dominated him the entire 5 rounds. Takedowns are nothing without a mount.
Are you people seriously telling me you think that someone getting pounded in the face that goes for a desperate takedown wins the round every time? Serious-fucking-ly?

Dricus hit air all night.
Sean was cut by average punches.
That cost him the fight.
Apart from that he didn't land much.
He did exactly 0 damage with his takedowns. All he did was waste energy

Can't say it was a robbery because too many well-informed viewers had DDP winning.

In the post-fight show, for example, Din had it 3-2 DDP and Anthony Smith had it 3-2 or 4-1 Strick. I agree w Anthony Smith and thought he was more astute in his breakdown of the fight and why he scored it that way than Din, but obviously Din knows the game well and saw it the other way, so you can't blame any judge for going for DDP.

I will say this though, it is my opinion that of the 50% of viewers who thought Strickland won, as compared to the 50% who thought DDP won, I think the Strickland camp will be on the average the better judges. The more sober, attentive, better memory, educated eye group would be the Strickland group I believe. It was just one of those fights that had a lot of defensive nuance by Strick, rolling with punches, checking kicks, not eating clean shots, and a lot of really good jabwork by Strickland. When you have a fight like that, I think it's going to be over a lot of people's heads, frankly.

DDP swings hard man he throws bombs. NONE of those landed cleanly. His best lands all fight were glancing bombs (which still have good impact for sure) and the sneakier but weaker shots. The takedowns might've helped the cause indirectly but he never even really got a solid control position much less any ground and pound or sub attempts.

It was mostly a boxing fight and Strickland outlanded DDP to the head by over 2:1. Let that sink in, if you're wondering why people had Strickland winning. He also handled the takedowns, handled the lowkicks... honestly I think Sean fucked up by not throwing more volume. He spent too much time being defensive and lack of output compared to DDP's insane volume of mostly defended shots was a bad look for the judges.

Which rounds do you think Dricus won? None?

When I wrote as close a fight can be, I meant statistically as in how the mma media scored it as well as fans (and the judges). Seems to be a really even split on who won.

Same

I had it 2-2 going into the 5th, with Strickland winning the 5th

Strickland landed way more significant strikes, way more head shots...

None of the takedowns by DDP lead to any control.

I think you gotta beat the champ... this fight was way too close to get a new champ.

Anyways, great fight... mad respect to both guys.

Hope to see them run it back

Well, sue me, but i want to see this rematch. Even If it's not a immediate one.

Not that I want a rematch but why is there no rematch for a super close fight and rematches when one guy obliterates the other?
The ufc make up the rules to suit whatever narrative they are rocking with. Even as a happy ddp fan even I can see a clear cut case for an instant rematch. It was razor close.

Hitting air and landing takedowns that result in 0 damage and 0 sub attempts wins you fights, certainly won Du Plessis a belt.

it was just a really sloppy, shitty fight.

i kept thinking what previous champions in their primes would've done to these two. shit, even their challengers would mop the floor with both guys tonight.

Once upon a time, in the vibrant city of Las Vegas, Dana White found himself at the bustling MGM Grand Casino. The neon lights illuminated the night sky, casting a kaleidoscope of colors on the bustling crowd. Dana, the renowned president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), had a reputation for his toughness in the world of mixed martial arts, but tonight, a different challenge awaited him.

As Dana strolled through the lively casino floor, the rhythmic sounds of slot machines and the distant cheers from poker tables filled the air. Amidst the glittering chaos, he spotted his grandmother, Eleanor, seated on a bench near the entrance. Her weathered face and tired eyes told a tale of struggles and hardships.

Concerned, Dana approached Eleanor, recognizing her desperate situation. "Grandma, what are you doing here?" he asked with genuine worry.

Eleanor looked up, surprise and a hint of embarrassment in her eyes. "Oh, Dana, dear. I never thought I'd see you here. I just... I needed some help, and I didn't know where else to turn."

Dana took a seat beside his grandmother, his concern turning into compassion. "Grandma, you should have told me. What's going on? Why are you here?"

Eleanor sighed, her shoulders slumping. "I've fallen on hard times, Dana. Bills piling up, and I didn't want to burden you. I thought maybe I could get lucky and win something here to ease the financial strain."

Dana gently placed a hand on his grandmother's shoulder. "You should never have to go through this alone. I'm here for you. Let's talk about what's going on, and we'll figure it out together."

The two of them found a quieter spot in the casino, away from the glitzy distractions. Dana listened as Eleanor shared her struggles, and together they discussed a plan to overcome the challenges she faced. Dana reassured his grandmother that she was not alone, and they would find a solution together.

When his grandmother asked for a small amount of $50 to purchase food as she was starving, Dana White told her to get on her knees and beg. And when she did, Dana White took off his $4000 Gucci belt and whipped her multiple times. He then proceeded to unzip his pants and attempted to urinate on here before security staff and bystanders intervened He was kicked out of the casino and fined $11,000
Dumb.
