Dan Hooker rips UFC over canceled tickets: ‘I’m not going to break my back for a company that doesn’t respect me’

Maybe, just maybe, it's because Hooker didn't realize he'd have to get up at 3 AM to do something he "agreed" to because he assumed like anybody else that he'd be asked to go there at a more reasonable time. Who the hell gets up for work or anything else at 3 AM anyway? <WhatIsThis>
It wasn't 3 AM. He said it was 3 AM in New Zealand to justify it, but he was in Las Vegas. It was 7:30 AM in Vegas. Boo fucking hoo.

I could turn it around and say the same to Hooker. Hurting your relations with the #1 MMA org in the world over having to wake up at 3am 1 fucking day is stupid and petty. Can the UFC just get a proper heads up that you can't make it? He's a full time fighter he could have just taken a nap later in the day.

You try no showing on your job after agreeing to be there and let me know what the consequences are for you. For most people it's losing their job. So IMO Hooker got off light here.
Dan is a Top 10 fighter. He's not your typical employee. He's one of your best employees.

But it's fine, now Dan is going to sit and not fight on the Australia card.

Actions are meeting reactions here aren't they? Is anyone here an adult?

Losing a major fight on a PPV over some non-relevant event is fucking stupid.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I'm not getting up at 7:30 AM unless I'm getting paid to do so. My point stands.

Now if it comes out that Hooker was told he'd have to be there at a certain time before he agreed and he did so anyway then that's different. But that's not what the original post says. Maybe Hooker's just omitting that part to make himself look good but right now I don't know that, and I suspect nobody else here does either.

I've been in situations where I had something scheduled and then at the last minute I was asked to come in 2-3 hours earlier than I agreed to and I've said no. It's called standing up for yourself. Then again millennials have no idea how to do that properly or in some cases at all.

EDIT: Also, since when is attending a "UFC event" the day of a requirement for a fighter to get a ticket to an event? And are any of them actually told this beforehand? This is just another one of those childish, petty things Dana does all the time.

Also considering the fact that he flew over means that if it was the very next night, then he's probably still on New Zealand time, so yes, it basically was 3am for him.

But yeah, on the other hand, what is Hooker omitting. He's already proven to be really a full of a shit guy for his own benefit/entertainment all the time.

Is attending some random UFC event really part of Hooker's job if he's not getting paid to be there? This isn't the same as some nine to fiver suddenly deciding not to show up without calling in first.

Exactly even that fucking job doesn't give you a heads up when they shit can you either.

Could fall under "media obligations" that are part of every fighter's contract.

Shocker. At the APEX, they let fighters bring some family and friends to watch their fights, however, they have to leave the APEX once their friend or family member fought. For example, Dan Hooker faces Mateusz Gamrot. They can both bring people to accompany them for their fight at the APEX, but they have to leave immediately after their fight is over.

"There, you got to see your boy's undercard fight.

Now GTFO!"

I think it's hilarious that they cancelled his tickets after he no-showed his scheduled appearance.
"I didn’t even go out. I had an early night, but I’m not getting out of bed at three in the morning to do just about anything. I slept in, and I didn’t go to the UFC thing."
So, why'd you agree to do it? Because you thought you could just skip it with no consequences?

I tend to think this too, I mean I had a 7am Teams meeting for work the other day, out of my work hours and all but I did it, sometimes you have to toe the company line, particularly for the UFC it seems.

Where does it say he agreed to do it?
