custom winning gear.

Yeah, I went currently for the standard black 16 oz. More than happy!

So i found out yesterday that my coaches only want us sparring in 16oz gloves (for safety reasons). I mistakenly bought 14oz red gloves.

I just placed another order for 16oz Black gloves with my last name on it. I'm not worried about burning all this dough. Since this will probably be my last purchase in a long time. Plus I can always make it back..

With that said, should I just use my 14oz red winning gloves on the heavy bag or would that ruin the gloves? I already have 14oz Ringside Super Bag IMF gloves which are not showing any wear or tear...My coaches explained that I shouldn't use it on the heavy bag as it'll ruin such a beautiful glove and that I should just use it when were doing pads if I want a little extra speed OR when sparring gets more and more intense (Closer to fight night) then we'll put on our 14oz gloves.

I gotta wait 10-14 days for the black gloves..since theyre out of stock...damn you shihtzu! lol

I would just use them on the bag, gloves are meant to be used.

10-14 days waiting for the 16 oz. black?

No, seriously, that's a bad luck.

As for the heavy bag... If you train every day and take a good care of them (never leave in a bag and always let them dry properly) it will take years to ruin them.

In general it's ridiculous. 14 oz. Winning are more protective than any 16 oz.

Your attitude is great, Winning are the best investment in case of gloves.

haha yah... they ran out of stock.. I was thinking of changing the color to White or Blue..but I think black will preserve its "Look" in the long run.

Well I'm only going by what my coaches tell me..and since everyone at my gym spars with 16oz..I guess 14oz would be a slight advantage. Padding wise..it's still a 2oz difference. I don't really care though.

This is why I got black. The colour lasts forever.

Actually 12 oz. Winning are much more protective than 18 oz. Reyes.
But you can hardly argue with a coach...

Blue is a very good color, I've had my 10oz gloves for over a year and they still look pretty much brand new after many rounds on the bag.

Exactly...Not gonna lie I was a little disappointed when I heard that I couldn't use em for sparring. But I just got back into boxing and I'm not gonna argue with my coach who has way more experience then I do. and I actually think its great that my coaches are looking out for our safety... not that theres anything wrong sparring with anything less than 16oz..More power to you!

Anyways..I'll write up a review when I break them in

Have a great day everyone :icon_chee

Someone in my gym already has the blue winning gloves... lol. My headgears black so i'll be matching..sall good!

But yah blue is a very nice color same goes with White. It just gets too damn dirty is all.

Shihtzu when you say never leave your gloves in a bag and stuff...how do you carry your gloves to and from the gym? I personally think it would be weird to just be holding boxing gloves in my hand...especially when I have to go on the public box for 30 minutes to and from the gym lol

I usually knot the laces and wear the gloves around my neck.

Mate, I meant to take them immediately out when you come home. Some guys leave the gloves in a bag permanently. Yes, there are such people.

Technically i do have a boxing pendant on my chain that i wear but lol not the actual gloves, and yeah shihtzu i get what you mean. What about getting a mesh bag for carrying gear? Cuz i can admit sometimes i forget to take out my gloves but then again i dont give much attention to my current gloves anymore

The sooner and the more breathing the gloves get - the better for them.
Mesh bag is not a bad idea.

I'm not one for self promotion, but I consider this to be more of a problem solver. My triple color converters are about 2oz. depending on the size of the cuff. Therefore turning your 14's to 16's. Problem solved.

Nah still don't think my coaches will let me spar with them even with the converters. They explained that the 2oz difference is mostly on the front padding of the boxing glove and not on the wrist area.. I honestly don't think it even makes a big difference..but Like i said in my previous post, i'm not going to argue with my coaches.. theyre the only boxing gym around that offers a great yearly fee and exceptional training.

Thanks for the offer

Thats not entirely true, does ur coach not allow any type of mexican glove then? But to be honest id rather have a coach like yours that regulates 16s. Rather than some of the other posts on here that allow 10oz?

14s are my personal favorite. Not too bulky, not too small.

They only allow gloves made for sparring...I believe I have seen some with mexican gloves..but theyre still 16oz. We are a non-for profit boxing gym focusing on amateur boxers.

They allow the kids under 15 to wear any size depending on their weight.

but for adults, we must wear 16oz. I'm cool with that...protects both of the ppl in the ring.

rskbreaker fundamental mistake was he thought your coaches know something about Winning gloves or at least tried them. Nothing could be further from the truth :)

Nothing can break the logic of somebody who thinks XX gloves are 14 oz., YY gloves are 16 oz. = YY are more protective. F**k such stupid details like the kind of padding (layered/IMF), the materials, density etc. who cares...

On the other hand still better than coaches who believe sparring in 10 oz. is the best you can do since you are fighting in 10 oz...

I can't speak for IMF type gloves, but from experience with every glove I've owned(quite a few), the weight is added to the length and width of the glove, not the front padding.

Here is a 8oz and 12oz Fighting Sports gloves, trust me there is not 4 extra ounces of weight on the front of the glove. You'll notice what I mean when you get the chance to compare your 14oz to you 16oz Winning.
