Duerte should just compromise and give up a city in Mindanao to them.

then boom! Obviously I know very little about the situation, but boob is a fun word, I mean boom.

Boob boom boom boom boom....

Update from the field.....wife just returned to the city and said the far flung regions on Leyte (Visayas) are basically under military control now. It's a ruse to take power, IMO, and won't end well. But other than worry, not much has changed here and we are stocked up as if preparing for a typhoon. I bought more rum this time ;)

false flag?

And this is why the left wants to dump islamic refugees on us....we will be begging for order---under a totalitarian gov if necessary.

I fear this. I can't help but feel that it is all by design.

Take a place like France- lots of history and their own, attractive culture and good homogeneity as far as religion/moral values go. Why the hell would they want to add a bunch of people who go 100% against the peaceful society that they have worked so hard at to develop? It is like suicide, a simple minded child could have predicted that it wasn't going to work out.

It was like purposefully creating chaos. But why? To what advantage?

What is the terror alert at today? Is it amber? Do we need more Patriot Act?

That the threat is being overblown and Duterte is using it as a means to solidify/gain more control.

I have no idea of knowing, I live too far away.

Yeah there could be really a serious threat and at the same be used as a way to gain more power,

Like what Winston Churchil said, Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Authorities round up 250 people in Davao City Amids Terrorist threat
Davao City (CNN Philippines, May 25) — Authorities here rounded up some 250 individuals in two barangays early Thursday morning after receiving information on the presence of suspicious-looking persons.

Joint forces of the Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office swooped down on the barangays of Bucana and Mini-Forest.

"We are conducting verification of a written report that some unidentified persons ay reportedly pumasok sa area," said Davao City Police Office director Senior Supt. Alexander Tagum. "At kaya narito kami to verify yung mga identification nitong mga taong ito."

[Translation: We are conducting verification of a written report that some unidentified persons reportedly entered the area. And that's why we're here to verify the identification of these people.]

Tagum said the individuals were considered "persons of interest" since they could not present proof of identification.

He added that the officials of the two barangays could not verify the identities of those rounded up.

The persons of interest are now at the DCPO headquarters to undergo a "verification process." They are not under arrest.

Tagum said their operation is part of their effort to prevent the entry of terrorists in one of Mindanao's biggest cities.

On May 24, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the city is on a "hold and secure" status, meaning the local government is preventing a spillover of the violence in Marawi City from reaching Davao.

Well it is too early to actually I just love to speculate, who knows this could also be from the Duterte detractors from the Military and other politicians, see how they timed it when Duterte is in Russia.

There is also a communist threat the communist party of the Philippines who has been demanding more concessions from Duterte is now threatening Duterte after Duterte refused to release more prisoners and sign more land grants Duterte said no and now they want to wage war and demands that the Martial Law be lifted as they view this as state aggression.

Fuck this communists they think just because Duterte is left leaning that they should get all the favors in the current government just because they may share some values.

I mean as a nation.

Of course individually an arab can be a fearsome fighter, but usually when you couple extremism and tribalism.

Can you state some examples? Because as a military servicemen I've spent quite some time in the middle-east and have never been impressed by anything Arab in the combat realm.

I have seen propaganda videos of insurgents where they do shit that take some serious disregard for their own well-being.

I dont think they would amount to much in terms of training but religion can turn someone into a fearless individual.

Had a mate work(gunni) for British aerospace in Saudi some time ago as a "trainer" in loading ordinance. Said they were the laziest, useless, cowardly bunch of men he'd every seen.
Went to war every second week, planes would fly out, bomb some tents and that was the war. Reckoned they all thought it was just paybacks.

Besides a financial letup they all left the country with a deep hatred of Saudi's

Sounds about right, there was a thread on this board a few years ago that was about some Saudis that attended a military officer training rotation in Virginia. He said the Saudi officers were complete shit bags.

Chances of that happening: slim to none

Every time there's violent state crackdown on insurgents, the collateral damage is tremendous. ISIS or any other group don't wear ISIS jerseys and decorate their places of operation with their logos and colors.

For example, if there's a village of 1,000 people that's under ISIS control, it's often the case where they just raze the entire town, that way you know for sure you got the bad guys. So yeah, you might kill 30 ISIS members but you also killed 300-400 completely innocent people.

The government does need to respond but Duterte won on a promise to NOT be careful and to kill everything in sight when it comes to bad guys.

There's no such thing as an innocent Muslim. Their brain is infected with a disease.

This is what the Muslims did to the Catholic churches in Marawi City, this will just enrage the Catholics more, this fucking ISIS wannabee thinks the Philippines is Syria where Muslims are the dominant religion,

If you are a Christian a Catholic, for sure you will be worried and angry knowing this people are really targeting you for your faith.

Hopefully Duterte makes an example of them

the shitty thing about radical islamic theology is that killing them will not make an example out of them. that might work with groups like nazis or some other political nuts, but these people arent as focused on this life as they are the next one. those who are inspired by them, feel the same way.

very satisfying to learn about them being snuffed out, though.

The former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has been taken into custody after the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest for his so-called 'war on drugs'.

The former leader, who will turn 80 this month, is accused by ICC prosecutors of crimes against humanity over his anti-drugs crackdowns, in which as many as 30,000 people were killed. Most of the victims were men in poor, urban areas, who were gunned down in the streets.

The president’s office said Duterte was arrested on Tuesday morning at Manila airport after flying back from Hong Kong.

“Early in the morning, Interpol Manila received the official copy of the warrant of the arrest from the ICC,” the presidential palace said in a statement. “As of now, he is under the custody of authorities.”
