Ankalaev is ready for 300
Ideally it is Hill but he isn't ready by April. It might be Israel since it's 300 and they need a headline main event. Magomed isn't a big name enough to headline a legacy event. Both guys are kind of quiet and they aren't going to sell their fight. They need at least two championship fights for the event. They have one with Zhang.Rakic is fighting Jiri next, but Krylov would be an interesting fight.
Who do you think would be the best opponent for Alex at UFC 300?

I don't think we're going to see Johnny for a little whileNope. Rematch with Johnny Walker wouldn't be terrible
It would be terrible… For Walker

I have nothing against him, I only assumed he was not going to fight because Ramadan. Some people here hate Ankalaev so much they'd rather give the next LHW title shot to Sam Alvey lol <Lmaoo>

KekHis most high profile fight is beating the #8 LHW (at the time) who stepped in on super short notice & had lost 2 of his last 3 goint into that fight.
Oh, and it was the co-main event on an Apex card. No, Rountree isn't title shot ready at all.
Prophetic!I have nothing against him, I only assumed he was not going to fight because Ramadan.
I predict these tingsProphetic!
Following normal logic & meritocracy this should never have happened.
But I told you the reasons why in the OP and the situation has not changed much, Krylov still hasn't fought, Ankalaev is still dealing with the aftermath of a draw, followed by a no contest. (that he caused)Barely a "gotcha" there, this is the most bizarre title challenger in years. Following normal logic & meritocracy this should never have happened. It's worse than Erceg's title shot.
At least in that case Pantoja had wins over Moreno, Royval, Albazi was injured etc so there was some justification on how they ended skipping to a lower ranked fighter. Not the case here.
Damn we live in the worse timeline, I don't even get to see Anthony Smith get blasted into literal outer space by Poatan. But I told you the reasons why in the OP and the situation has not change much, Krylov still hasn't fought, Ankalaev is still dealing with the aftermath of a draw, followed by a no contest. There was nothing wrong with ercegs title shot either, It was good match making to put two fun guys who look to be at the top of their game against eachother.
Same thing with fights like TJ vs Barao. TJ with a one fight streak off easton, Things like that happen in this sport. Pereira vs rountree is still two top fighters at the top of their game. There aren't many options to begin with. Forget about ranking numbers, they are going to make the fights they need to make during the timeline they have. We also pretend that Hill wasn't about to fight Rountree in a Title eliminator match up at UFC 303. If you weren't going to give a shot to ankalaev, who else is there really? there is only Rountree which was the only point I ever tried to make. If anthony smith had beaten rountree, It may have actually been him.

And in regards to no justification, I think they wanted ankalaev to help sell that AD card because the Main event is Max vs Topuria, When UFC probably planned for Islam. (Explains the 307 Rumors for FW title fight, Also Max is a hot ticket right now fresh off that once in a lifetime KO. When AD couldn't get islam, they probably chose this out of everything else they wanted, We know UFC does big cards for them always). When that happened, UFC probably asked alex to fight sooner than they wanted to. With no other fight to make, other than Pantoja vs ??????????? This was their last resort.
I mentioned him at the end lmfao. but yeah it could have absolutely been Smith if he won. Crazy as that sounds because I do believe without ankalaev their hands are that tied. You're forgetting the best fighter in the division.

LHW is such a wasteland. I don't think Rountree deserves the shot but he is ranked within the top 10 and the reason we're seeing this fight is because Alex wants to stay active. Like you pointed out earlier TJ got his title shot against Barao under similar circumstances and if anything he deserved it less then than Rountree does now.I mentioned him at the end lmfao. but yeah it could have absolutely been Smith if he won. and look what TJ did with it, Who saw that coming? Lets just watch the show. It is a good fight with a top 10 LHW who is on a 5 fight UFC winning streak (which is also the longest in the entire division)LHW is such a wasteland.
