He outlanded petr that round and arguably landed the hardest strike which was a flush knee to petr's dome. That was a close round though, so I have no problem with giving it to petr. The right man won in the end, clearly.
Did you somehow miss this shot by Yan in R5? The was also another roundhouse that swiped Sanhagen's face in the last 5 seconds.

Yeah, the kick landed with the toes, which is why cory was unphased. The knee from sandhagen seemed to have more impact to me. They both only landed one or two really hard strikes in that round. The difference was that Corry had slightly more volume in addition to that. Like I said, I have no problem giving that round to yan, but I can see the argument for Cory winning that round, too.
PRIORITIZED CRITERIA:
Effective Striking/Grappling
“Legal blows that have immediate or cumulative impact with the potential to contribute towards the end of the match with the IMMEDIATE weighing in more heavily than the cumulative impact.
Sandhagen lost nothing in this fight.
He took it on short notice, he gave his all, and there was some concern about what the decision would be.
I felt confident Petr Yan would win, but wasn't 100%. In the end, the scorecards reflected the way I saw the fight, but in no way was Cory Sandhagen diminished.
More importantly, rather than crying in the end, and disputing the decision, when asked if he thought "He Won," Sandhagen honestly answered, "No."
A game, tough, honest "man's man," as a competitor.
Even with the loss, Sandhagen definitely remains a threat to the entire division, and with more work, and the kind of honesty and bravado he has, he is by no means anywhere near finished. The best is yet to come.
That said, I was rooting for Petr Yan, and he pulled it off.
My bet is that Aljamain Sterling (an embarrassing name for any man) will never face Yan again; he will pull out, and spend extensive amounts of time in "rehabilitation," until UFC strips him.
The real fight now is between Petr Yan and T.J. Dillashaw.
That will be truly epic, and I can't wait.
Based on him getting KO'ed before by less powerful/less strikingly polished guys.
Would have been prior to Sandhagen destroying TJ's leg...I love that Yan’s strictly in there to try and fuck you up. TJ vs Yan gets me so hyped up. Might be the most intriguing fight in BW history.
That spinning back fist left hook combo Yan threw was a masterpiece.
It's:
1. Yan
2. Aljo
3. TJ
4. Sandhagen
He lost the fight unanimously 49-46
Somehow he does remind me of Carlos aestheticallyHes the Carlos Condit of bantamweight
