How many times do you idiots have to be told , Sterling had neck surgery and WAS DENIED MEDICAL CLEARANCE BY DOCTORS TO FIGHT YAN TODAY
Let me guess, he paid the doctors off..

He lost about 50 lbs to make bantamweight
Once again the commentary really ruined this fight for me. Even in the two rounds Cory clearly won, the commentary was talking about Yan.
Great analogy with Fury, and very similar in the areas they need to improve. Sugar Hill taught Fury to sit down on his shots and use his size offensively vs defensively. He needs to use that size to his advantage, stop fighting like a small man. All the people saying Peter would destroy him were way off. Cory put on a hell of a fight and even the round that he was knocked down was close. Most impressive to me was that he managed to stop Peter's momentum, something no fighter has yet done.I agree with this, which is why I was a little nervous going into the decision.
I am also 100% sure Sandhagen has not yet reached his full potential.
With different coaching, standing his ground more, and utilizing his jab/speed/reach (like Thomas Hearns), Sandhagen could be poison for anyone.
Like Hearns, when a tall guy backs-up, they're not effective.
And, like Hearns, when a tall guy stands his ground, fires a riveting-jab, followed by devastating punches (kicks), they are poison for shorter fighters their same weight.
I think Sandhagen should do the same thing Tyson Fury did: dump his trainers advising him to "stick and move," and start learning from a new trainer how to really hurt someone by standing his ground, with his advantages in height/reach.
How the hell do you give him round 5? I could see round 2, but he didn't land anything in round 5 and ate some pretty big shots from Petr.
you troll full time as a poster it seems. I like your dedication.cody took down yan at will and won at least 2 rounds. yan is overrated
He finally won me over with that admission. I thought he was gonna sulk and bitch about it. But he didn't. HUGE respectSandhagen lost nothing in this fight.
He took it on short notice, he gave his all, and there was some concern about what the decision would be.
I felt confident Petr Yan would win, but wasn't 100%. In the end, the scorecards reflected the way I saw the fight, but in no way was Cory Sandhagen diminished.
More importantly, rather than crying in the end, and disputing the decision, when asked if he thought "He Won," Sandhagen honestly answered, "No."
A game, tough, honest "man's man," as a competitor.
Even with the loss, Sandhagen definitely remains a threat to the entire division, and with more work, and the kind of honesty and bravado he has, he is by no means anywhere near finished. The best is yet to come.
That said, I was rooting for Petr Yan, and he pulled it off.
My bet is that Aljamain Sterling (an embarrassing name for any man) will never face Yan again; he will pull out, and spend extensive amounts of time in "rehabilitation," until UFC strips him.
The real fight now is between Petr Yan and T.J. Dillashaw.
That will be truly epic, and I can't wait.
