Cory Sandhagen Lost Nothing

Agreed...it was a great fight and his stock certainly has not dropped. I have little doubt that he will compete for the title again at some point.

I thought he still looked good tonight despite the loss, showed great movement, excellent cardio/chin and landed some decent shots. Yan just snipered him on him and couldn't come back from it.

I think Sandhagen wins his next fight.

Maybe he should switch to a more natural division instead of continuing to to fight as a six foot tall bantamweight.

he lost but his stock went up, thought he had a good start in the fight and was never totally out of it

Yeah, Peter's boxing looked phenomenal but it wouldn't be so impressive if Cory wasn't such a great opponent. Great stuff from both guys and FOTN. Cory is a tough son of a bitch.

Some people do not want to hear it, but under the 10 pt must Cory very likely could have won that fight. I think Petr won, and his rounds won were much more clear, but 1,2,5 for Cory is very possible. Every Sherdog writer gave the 5th to Cory and I gave him the 1st and 2nd. If this fight was in Colorado, we are very possibly looking at a SD for Cory and new interim champ.

And even tho I think he lost a close one, he is right there. He is still improving a ton, made massive gains in wrestling from just a few months, he beat TJ IMHO (and most peoples), and a few more improvements, sitting down on his punches a little more and he is your champ.

I agree with this, which is why I was a little nervous going into the decision.

I am also 100% sure Sandhagen has not yet reached his full potential.

With different coaching, standing his ground more, and utilizing his jab/speed/reach (like Thomas Hearns), Sandhagen could be poison for anyone.

Like Hearns, when a tall guy backs-up, they're not effective.

And, like Hearns, when a tall guy stands his ground, fires a riveting-jab, followed by devastating punches (kicks), they are poison for shorter fighters their same weight.

I think Sandhagen should do the same thing Tyson Fury did: dump his trainers advising him to "stick and move," and start learning from a new trainer how to really hurt someone by standing his ground, with his advantages in height/reach.

I mean he lost his shot at a title anytime soon. Yan is gonna fight Aljo/TJ, in whatever order is healthier first. Cory's gonna need to win at least two more fights before he gets another crack at the title.

He needs to seriously move his ass up to Lightweight, not Featherweight. He has every physical advantage a person could be granted and could not stifle the attacks of men half his size. Plus it’s just stupid that there are 5’11 135 Pounders in the UFC

Agree. Corey impressed me.

Still wasn't totally aggressive like he keeps saying he will be.

But he was strong over 5 rounds and ate some fucking bombs like they were nothing.
