Cory Sandhagen Lost Nothing

Sandhagen's chin is made out of solid titanium. Close fight. Great fight. Future champ for sure.
Close fight? I'd give props to Cory for stepping up...it would probably be close fight if he had full camp...but that 1st rnd was the only close fight...he got beat up Yan figured him out.

One thing not talked about much (or at least I have not seen it brought up) is that Yan exposed a way to defeat Sandhagan by using his own foot work against him.

Around round 2 or 3, Yan started following sandhagen’s laterally forward predictable 2-3 stutter steps to stay directly in front of him and then would hit him with straight shots as soon as Sandhagen planted his feet. I never noticed how predictable his footwork was until I kept seeing Yan basically just stay in front of him while Sandhagen did it.

sandhagan does those lateral/forward stutter steps without simultaneously throwing/hooking off wide shots like Cruz and Guida do, so there was little threat to Yan following the movement and staying directly in front of him. Yan just needed to make sure he was fast enough to fire the straight (or short hook) as soon as Sandhagan was done with those 2-3 steps

How the hell do you give him round 5? I could see round 2, but he didn't land anything in round 5 and ate some pretty big shots from Petr.

He outlanded petr that round and arguably landed the hardest strike which was a flush knee to petr's dome. That was a close round though, so I have no problem with giving it to petr. The right man won in the end, clearly.

Fights are not judged by volume at all until impact is 100% equal. If there’s even a slight difference in impact, you still denote to the one who dealt more damage or had more impact. Read the rule book please.

Pretty much, Cory had Volume but all the hardest shots were from Yan. Cory was scrappy and made it an exciting fight But I have no doubt about who the better fighter is.

I think this loss set him back quite a bit timeline wise. You’ve got Dillashaw ahead of him now and then the winner of Font/Aldo as well. Add in a streaking Merab and he’s looking at 2 years before he gets another crack at the belt

I love that Yan’s strictly in there to try and fuck you up. TJ vs Yan gets me so hyped up. Might be the most intriguing fight in BW history.
There's little doubt that TJ doesn't get knocked out cold.

How many times do you idiots have to be told , Sterling had neck surgery and WAS DENIED MEDICAL CLEARANCE BY DOCTORS TO FIGHT YAN TODAY

Let me guess, he paid the doctors off..
I had my neck fused twice In the last year, all pain has come back and then some. I have no doubt he's not bluffing.

Once again the commentary really ruined this fight for me. Even in the two rounds Cory clearly won, the commentary was talking about Yan.
Yeah. DC and Rogaine need to stop this one sided commentary shit. I don't think commentators are supposed to show a bias, and it's clear as day that's all they do.

He shouldnt be disappointing, he put on a hell of a performance.

What was the second round you saw Cory win? I had him take the first, but everything after it just went downhill from him, he was eating big shots and wasn't landing any meaningful shot. I had Spanish commentary btw

He literally out struck Yan in the 2nd round

Guy is 6 foot, making 135. This website has a habit of bitching about weight cutting, but he gets a total pass. 2-3 in his last five. Total fucking bum.
