It doesnt matter what you "consider", all that matters is what is true. The president isnt a king, but he does have substantial power, and can speed up, slow down, start up, and put the kibosh on many things.

If he wanted the country to take action on this back in January, we would have taken action. He can order investigations and agencies to look into whatever he wants.

And do you think Republican governors, senators, and representatives are going to go against what Trump says?
Politics isnt about dictatorial powers. He has plenty of various kinds of power. His words alone have major influence on politicans, people, the stock market, media, and other countries.

yes your right, this all true.

wasnt it trump who proposed tarriffs and bringing jobs back while the democrats largely mocked the idea. perhaps if you had followed trumps advice you would have medical mask manufacturers. just a thought. what would the democrats have done differently in all this ??? closed the borders, enforced police state curfews or would they lapped up everything xi said. pelosi, biden, hillary, pocohontas and bernie would have made an absolute bungle of this. ya girl pelosi was spotted hugging wuhan vacationers, hows that for looney.

im not a huge fan of trump, infact i think hes too old and not all that qualified for the job.

Yes, everyone laughed at the idea of tariffs because it's not the 80s anymore. And that's why Trump's little trade wars and tariffs have given America a historic trade deficit.

A democratic administration would most likely not behave with any way the ineptitude the Trump admin has. Furthermore, a democratic admin probably wouldn't put a bunch of crazies and pilferers into key positions, like Azar at the HHS.

Hell, even the fucking Bush administration could perform, and they were dead set on dismantling the federal government just like Trump.

Man, you should read up before making these strong opinions and statements.

Trump was advocating "bringing back" WHAT jobs?. Do you think that Democrats are against Americans having jobs in America? Does that make sense?. It doesnt. Because it isnt true.
What Democrats mocked was Trump trying to bring back outdated industries like "beautiful" coal mining.

The Trump administration is severely understaffed. In 3 years, he still hasnt filled a shit ton of positions.
There isnt a global pandemic director (there was under Obama and Bush--same guy i believe), and Trump's administration made cuts to the CDC with regards to infectious diseases. Ya dont think those people would be useful right now?
And then we have the dismantling of Obamacare and typical Republican deregulation.

The response to COVID19 would have been different under a Democrat because we would have at the very least had more experts aware and on top of this from the very beginning, and timing is crucial when we're talking pandemics.

Imagine being so uninformed and gullible that you reshare this tweet believing it cogent.

That letter was written on January 27th to the Senate by the Secretary of the Health Department Alex Azar in which he declared the Coronavirus a public health emergency. Azar was appointed to his post by Trump.

Meanwhile, those 37 Democratic Senators who signed that letter by Azar didn't do so until the 4th of March, and their signing had nothing to do with a concern for the Coronavirus, really, or the demand of State of Emergency. It was their attempt to exploit this outbreak to piggyback their cornucopia of rider provisions onto the imminent emergency bill they knew would be coming-- like repealing the prohibition of free care for people who don't work-- to change health care laws they couldn't achieve the way they are supposed to achieve changes to our laws through the Senate:

Chuck Schumer and the Democrats didn't even undertake to compose a letter to Trump until March 11 asking him to issue a declaration of a national state of emergency.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/11/politics/schumer-coronavirus-emergency-declaration/index.html

Trump declared a state of emergency on March 13 two days later:

Azar's declaration is what permitted Trump to use his authority to issue a travel ban against those entering the USA from China. He did so immediately at the end of January. The Democrats didn't rescind their recalcitrance to that executive authority until March 13:

"Dunking" on Shapiro. LMFAO, sweet Moses, the ignorant celebrating their ignorance; the blind lecturing those who can see.

Never gets old.

As a friend of mine stated this Presidency is like being in a saw movie tied to a chair and watching a toddler play with a loaded gun.

A Ventilator Stockpile, With One Hitch: Thousands Do Not Work

A tidbit:
"In fact, the contract with a company that was maintaining the machines expired at the end of last summer, and a contract protest delayed handing the job to Agiliti, a Minneapolis-based provider of medical equipment services and maintenance. Agiliti was not given the $38 million task until late January, when the scope of the global coronavirus crisis was first becoming clear.

It is not known whether problems with the ventilators predated the contract lapse, but maintenance of the machines did halt. That delay may become a potentially deadly lapse."

And here is another crystal clear example of how this administration is fatally incompetent.

Pentagon has not yet sent 2,000 ventilators due to lack of shipment location

"The Pentagon has not shipped out any of the 2,000 ventilators it offered to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) earlier this month because HHS has not yet provided a shipping location, multiple outlets reported on Tuesday.

Though the Defense Department had planned to deliver an initial 1,000 ventilators, HHS asked the department to wait, Lt. Gen. Giovanni Tuck, the Pentagon's top logistics official, told a small group of reporters.

“There was discussion with HHS on where to send them, and then they said, ‘Hey. Wait. We're trying to take a look at the demand that's required,’ and so we were asked to just wait while there was just some sorting through,” Tuck said, according to CNN."

Kind of crappy when the abject moron in charge puts a Bush era lobbyist in charge of public health, yeah?

It isn't known if problems with the ventilators predated the expiration of the contract, meaning the company would be at fault, for a contract Trump possibly didn't originally negotiate, it may have been Obama, the NYT article doesn't specify.
Aric Vacchiano, the vice president of U.S. sales and services at Vyaire Medical in Chicago, which produces the LTV 1200, one of the ventilators in the federal stockpile, said the company had been fielding calls from all over the country as hospital officials rushed to get the machines in working order.

“They’re reaching out in every direction,” Mr. Vacchiano said.

Vyaire was responsible for maintaining some of the ventilators in the federal stockpile until that contract ran out in late August. The company protested when a broader contract to keep the stockpile up-to-date was granted to Agiliti instead. The dispute was not resolved until January, when Agiliti again prevailed.

A spokeswoman for Health and Human Services did not respond to questions about what had happened to ventilator maintenance during the lapse, but she said the agency had sped up the contract with Agiliti to make the remaining 2,109 ventilators available by April 30.
So the administration awarded the contract to Agili, Vyaire protested, and the dispute was either tied up in court, which would be unavoidable in any contract shift, or in a bureaucratic resolution to their appeal. Vyaire had possession of the ventilators during this time, while they fought to retain the contract, and yet apparently they didn't maintain them; possibly they failed to maintain them prior to this period which would certainly validate the administration's decision to change the contract. That article also goes on to mention that it isn't clear what the source of the problematic ventilators are in many states-- whether they're from the national stockpile or elsewhere.

It's unfortunate there wasn't some temporary layover order dispensed, but without more details, it isn't clear if that was possible with budgetary constraints, bureaucratic constraints, or for some other reason related to the prior contract.

You dont believe that the man that claims to know more about war than generals, more about economics than economists, more about practically ANYTHING than any other expert...you dont believe that that man would ignore experts?

He believed Putin over his own intelligence agencies.
He thinks he is an expert on everything.
"Nobody knows _____________ better than I do" is one of his top go to phrases.
Fancy you say that.

"Nobody knows more about South Korea than me"
Immediately bullshits about South Korea.

Thread...

UK briefings are also terrible with lots of talking but no answers to questions.

it boggles mind i mean really BOGGLES my mind that trump or any elected leader for that matter even has the final say in the midst of a pandemic. how there isnt some leftover from the coldwar within the gov that deals with biological attacks or pandemics is bizzarre. the alphabet agenices knew what was going in in chyna or the very least had an idea.

They knew but Trump ignored what they said.

It boggles the mind that the chief executive ignored the intelligence community

Really boggles the mind

Trump and his ego want absolute power

One thing I’ve noticed. All of the sign language people standing next to the governors etc during their tv briefings are goofy looking people. Physically, not just because they are moving like they are high on E but lost their glow sticks.

Yesterday's press conference on Corona virus was about the war on drugs...today's will be about putting NFL and NBA cheerleaders back to work as sign language props at press conferences for governors.

Why is it bad that the Pentagon hasn't sent out 2,000 ventilators yet due to lack of shipment location? They are being warehoused in NY and Cuomo said they don't need them quite yet (but eventually will). Why rush to send them out when they are not immediately needed and the exact location of their earliest, best use is not yet known? Incompetence would be rushing to send them out (just to say you did), and having them end up in places that may never need them.
