At this point I think the burden of proof should be on those who deny that coronavirus came from a lab, not those who believe it came from a lab.

if it’s not clear to you folks that trump is holding up the Dow with the sheer power of his lies, y’all need to think harder.

If this was several months ago and Bernie somehow won the election, you think we’d still be at 21k?

<{cruzshake}>

You better pray that every day trump goes out there and rattles off whatever bullshit he needs to in order to prevent the market from freaking the fuck out. Otherwise we’ll be back at 6k sooner than later.

Or we can all wake up and realize how retarded it is to base our entire system and lives on the numbers of a stock market
If a "flu" and the words of Trump can make or break our system, then it's a pretty fucking fragile system.

"I say Mike, don't call the governor of Washington, you're wasting your time. Don't call the woman in Michigan. It doesn't make any difference what happens."

"You know what I say? If they don't treat you right, I don't call."

He could change his name to Buzz Windrip and you still wouldn't have anything approaching a clue.

Now, write out that Biden quote and remember, that’s the nominee that will ensure 4 more years of Trump.

I too believe in pretend systems of government where everyone is equal and we’re immune to global fucking pandemics...

Trumps next move in combating corona virus - just in time for easter

probably as effective as all of his moves so far

I don't want to be unkind, but the tap dancing above; doesn't really make sense. On the subject of "thinking harder"; is that the justification for all the public statements prior to "just the facts mam", sobering press conference the other day? Are you really claiming that was his intent? It strains credulity to put it mildly.

Why are we now talking about Bernie? and please don't think for one second my post was partisan; I have no dog in the race; just calling balls and strikes as I see them from another country. As I have said before; always liked you yanks; and I have always given the benefit of the doubt to Trump; he's not a politician, one of the reasons I've liked him. His primary race was the most incredible display of hustle and haymakers; and he genuinely makes me laugh from time to time, mostly intentionally, I might add.

This isn't an easy task to manage for any leader; but this has been a poor example of leadership. A lot of Americans are about to die unnecessarily (testing debacle, PPE shortages, ventilators, etc), your economy is beyond fucked (further deaths) and trillions of dollars will be added to the national debt. It breaks my heart, honestly, to see this happen to the USA.

A Dereliction of Duty.

Btw, a reminder to all you fantasy land liberals. This is the guy you’re going to have to vote for to lead the crisis. He can’t even answer the question while looking at his notes.

Biden is looking very old right now. Totally irrelevant to the conversation, mind. This thread is about the US Government response; which has been quite poor, tbh. The response is getting better now, but its more at the local level (and some states are still dropping the ball on this) that efforts are picking up steam. Not good.

Hoax
We have it under control

now that that didn’t work, say 200,000 will die. If 100,000 die, you look like a hero. And they say people who oppose trump have tds? Hahaha

The solution was being prepared to begin with. That's why we are where we are. He could've invoked the Defense Production Act nearly 2 months ago when the experts were telling him we are dangerously unprepared.

Another step would be international cooperation with nations that have handled the situation better, but Trump takes the position of fuck the world with most everything he does, and that's why he removed the CDC's point man in China, and has attempted no outreach to Chinese doctors from outside Wuhan who have nothing to do with their expertise at this point, amongst other idiotic steps.

I think the difference between our thought process is, you seem to blame one person for it.

I blame the US government for it, which includes Trump.

2 months ago...would have been 10 days after the first reported case in the United States.
What you are suggestion would be on par with the 1950s Cold War DPA. Hindsight is 20/20 There wasnt a precident of doing that for outbreaks.

The ironic thing is posters like him would’ve lost their minds if Trump had done that. “(Literally) Hitler!”

How is it irrelevant?

In a few months we have a choice of who to lead the world. One is Donald Trump, the other can’t even read talking points off a cheat sheet.

‘A) the market trusts trump, that’s why we’re still somehow hanging onto 20k.

2) the market does not trust democrats.

Point 2 is so irrelevant right now; November is about 10 years away at this point, according to our new definition of time.

Can I ask, just because I don't want to waste my or your time (unless you are getting something positive out of this discussion, even if just cathartic - in which case ill play along); how do you rate the Trump administrations handling of this?

This is a good point worth repeating. Let's not forget that before this all happened, much of the Left-Wing media was endlessly banging home the idea that Trump is an Authoritarian Fascist wanna-be Dictator. Does anyone really think it would have been supported (or even followed) if he tried to unilaterally shut down the country and strip its citizens of the most basic freedoms and liberties after the first confirmed cases showed up here?

There are always some parts of the response that can be criticized, but if you called Trump a Fascist before this whole thing occurred, how can you now complain that he did not unilaterally impose the strongest restrictions on freedoms this country as ever seen?
