I knew Trump inventing Coronavirus would come back to bite him!

I don’t think anyone is blaming Trump for the existence of the virus, but this is his first real test as President. Bush had 9/11, Obama had the recession, these events defined their presidencies and lifted them to reelection. Trump inherited a strong economy, and it’s stayed strong, but he hasn’t had anything hugely disruptive happen under his administration yet, so this moment is the test that shows the American people if he’s competent to lead.

If the steps he takes in the coming days help slow/stop the spread of the virus, and the economy rebounds in a few months, Trump will likely be re-elected in a landslide. If things continue to get worse into the summer, he won’t stand a chance.

I'm glad to finally see a thread on this.

There are a million and one ways for us to reach market collapse (pandemic, war, global recession etc etc)
But the market collapsing is the bottom line no matter how we get there.
This has nothing to do with Trump, partisanship, or any of the other generally petty shit we all fight over around here.
If the market collapses it will be anarchy. People will murder one another over a bag of peanuts and rape on a whim.

We all need to pray to whatever god or gods we choose that it doesn't get to that point.

Only those of us prepared will stand much of a chance.

It's pretty hard not to put some blame on the Trump administration if you're being honest about it.

The Trump admin has cut the CDC and other healthcare related service budgets every year since he took office including most the most recent budget proposal in February when corona had already been spreading around the world for months.
