I'm going to Cambodia and Vietnam for the month of March. It's in the back of my mind but odds are pretty slim that I'll catch it (so far).
we know what you are up to big guy, raw dogging asian hookers all over the place, your risk is too high

But the transmission rate will very likely vary greatly over time. It's not a constant rate. It makes those calculations educated guesses.
No doubt. Once you have a month or two of data you can get a ball park estimate based on the trends

Yeah, I’m willing to bet it will never get that far. It’s basically SARS again.
I hope you're right on this. I totally get the media is generally out to fear monger more than they probably should. but I think that's better than them not reporting and the virus be underestimated.

Everything that does not make death crazy painful is fine. So nothing to worry about

#JokerWasRight

I made a thread a month ago about the original Bat-Man from the 1930s pulp fiction the spider. This Bat-Man was a guy named Earl Westfall who was a retired athlete that went to travel the world, plane crashed, got stuck in an island with a tribe worshipping a bat god, they thought Earl was the bat god.

Earl then immersed himself in studying the bats and he found a way to control them. He in turn used it to blackmail world leaders to giving him money and land around the world or otherwise he would have his bats attack the civilians and they would in turn die from diseases.

The original Bat man was an athlete turned supervillain. Its crazy that Bats can be weaponized to give diseases.

3 of you are 'extremely scared'? Are you shitting me? Unless you live in Wuhan, that's bullshit. Stop watching so much TV, put your devices down, take your medication, and go for a walk around the block.

...and even this is misleading. SARS and Yellow Fever over Spanish Flu...
Dont you dare try and tell me how to fear

Very true and as long as the awareness is there in the population at large then it’s a good thing to keep people on track taking measures to reduce the spread.

Probably not a good one. You can't model that well a jump to another country.

When all the Coronavirus threads got merged your comment disappeared. @HI SCOTT NEWMAN

Oh thats spooky. But I am kinda glad to be out of this thread because its just a lot of scare mongering, we been through this a hundred times with different killer viruses that will "wipe out all humans", bored of it, I've seen too many in my lifetime.

I'm not denying there is a virus, but some of the stuff I'm reading is beyond ridiculous and seems like a organised plan. Do you find it weird that the virus pops up all of a sudden when the China and Hong Kong conflict is going on. hmmm. always something to detract

The Chinese government is responsible for not informing the residents until it got out of hand. @HI SCOTT NEWMAN

To quote the other dumbass "Don't you dare tell me not to shit my pants in terror!" Calm the fuck down.
Oh, it was @good-faith poster Calm the fuck down. You'll still die of heart disease like nature intended.
DUDE have you seen the news? Chinese people are dropping DEAD! IN THE STREETS! You mean to tell me the NEWS is LYING to the ENTIRE WORLD? Get real, psycho!

Passing out and losing consciousness isn't the same as DROPPING DEAD, "psycho". It's a respiratory illness, you low-iq person. If you can't get oxygen, you what? Hint, I said it in the first sentence. You lose consciousness.

And no, the news would never lie to anybody, ever, they always have everyone's best interest at heart, especially if it means leaving money on the table. How silly of me to not credit the stunning, brave, benevolent media.
what if they pass out on the street and then die because of cte on the head dog, what about that, what does your precious science says

im not 'scared' in the sense that i dont think the likelyhood of myself getting ill is high, nor is the likelyhood of major consequences upon getting ill high.

i am scared in that it is still a global pandemic that will (and already has) cause serious human and economical damage, and hopefully all governments are doing what is necessary to contain its spread.

some people dont seem to understand that if major preventative actions arent taken in cases like these, they would have a huge impact on humanity.

The Spanish Flu called, it says it claimed 50 million and for TS to STFU.

The plain old annual flu kills about 90k a year worldwide.

There's debate over the rate of infection, but it's generally following an exponential path. It's a new thing, with a lot of unknowns, and epidemiologists seem to be pretty worried. Wondering now if projected or actual counts better reflect reality, with lack of test kits and transparency.
