Some say 2 - 3% mortality rate like a flu..... some expect like Sars at 10% some folks saying it end up worse than MERS at over 40% . Noone can get real info cause China. Might take another month to really know how bad it is.

It supposedly is contagious even before symtoms which will make it nearly impossible to contain.

This is what I heard from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Common human coronaviruses, including types 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1, usually cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses, like the common cold. Most people get infected with these viruses at some point in their lives. These illnesses usually only last for a short amount of time.

However, that seems to be referring to other types not the type that is in the news. I misspoke.

So, a lot of people get sick this time of year. I'm currently slightly sick, but not too bad. It got me wondering that I don't know where I got the cold from. Maybe some dude just came back from China and went to the same bathroom where I was yesterday?

Anyhow, it got me thinking how do you know if you have the Coronavirus or just a normal flu. Apparently, it's pretty indistinguishable from the flu:

My chance of surviving is probably higher than that because I'm a healthy adult in my 30s. 15% mortality is still alarmingly high.

Why not just concede that, if the 15% figure is correct, you were wrong about it being a typical flu instead of continuing to defend your assertion that it's not a big deal?

Still don’t think it’s a big deal. They said all the same things about SARS and I survived that living in south China at its peak. Never got sick or anything and neither did anyone I knew. And people were in full panic mode.

Not worried at all, any more than about catching the flu. I’ll find other things to worry myself about like feeding my family and how I’m gonna get a full night’s sleep with an infant who still wants to play at midnight.
