I doubt you’ve come into contact with one of the 5 people who’ve had it in the US

Doubt I have it, but the incubation is pretty long. There's probably more than 5 people who have it who don't even know they have it yet. And, they're spreading it to more people.

Some roast/steam whole duck or chicken. and it's ok. We boil fertilized eggs. I don't get the drama, really. As long as you cook/prepare them properly.

I think the gross out factor is the fact that you're eating the whole animal - most of us only ever eat parts of an animal, eating the bones, eyes, guts etc grosses us out.

For the past week, I've been telling all my friends that there is NO reasons to panic.

The numbers of infected will blown up within 5 to 7 days just because of the 2 weeks incubation period and Lunar New Year was last Saturday. But as mentioned, the mortality rate is very low, compared to other Coronavirus, like SARS. At least this current strain of virus is.

Media reports is making people that ONLY read these reports and watches news worry so much. It make people with common flu worry too much and rushes themselves to hospital and get themselves exposed to the real virus ironically.

If you really study deeper into it, until it mutates, there is NO reason to panic at all.

I don't think anyone should panic, but who knows how this will turn out. We're a lot more fragile than we like to think, and even with a low mortality rate, this could be a big deal. Who knows.

Also when you eat a #18 balut you open the shell and you see a scrawny premature gooey little duck with the little feathers sprouting and everything and when you eat it, it feels all crunchy and gooey at the same time.

Yeah, I tried it.

Where's here and what's the school?

I'm in the Midwest. I don't think this is any sort of coronavirus scare as there are zero respiratory symptoms. It's purely a stomach bug that gives a few other symptoms outside of the stomach (body aches and fever). We talked to our doctor and he said it is what is going around right now. 2-4 days is how long it's averaging. I've lost around 8 lbs in 3 days and that is while trying to stay hydrated. I just can't eat even now that I feel ok.

As long as they don't eat balut. That shit's gross.

Some Chinese eat everything that walks, crawls, slithers, swims or fly, sometimes live. Disease carrying rats n bat's are not out of the question. I seen a video of a dog being skinned alive, then chopped up and served on the spot as to preserve the freshness of the meat. I've seen creatures get tossed into pans alive, squealing in pain, and these guys just pop em in their mouths seconds later. I've heard monkey brains is a delicacy in some parts, but not just served in a bowl.... No no.... While the monkey is still alive ala Hannibal lector.

I don't care how they try to justify it, the shit is extreme cruelty, not to mention disgusting as all hell, and you have to question their humanity at some point.

Its not all, don't get me wrong, just various areas. Some Chinese are strict buhddist and only eat veggies, while others refrain from some of those rat/bat soup diets and eat majority seafood.

My chance of surviving is probably higher than that because I'm a healthy adult in my 30s. 15% mortality is still alarmingly high.

Why not just concede that, if the 15% figure is correct, you were wrong about it being a typical flu instead of continuing to defend your assertion that it's not a big deal?

This - 15% mortality rate is extremely high.

I don't like the texture of the duckling itself. That's why I swallow the content whole. Yolk and all. It helps with the texture issue.

No man, you gotta chew that shit up, chewy bones and all. Puts hair on your nuts.

Ever been to China?

I think it much lower than that ..

6000 and only 130 deaths so far .. Thats about 2% ... Normal flu is way more.
Normal flu can be pretty bad and has higher mortality rates as far as I know. I've seen young folk in their late 20s and 30s have to be intubated and put on a ventilator to help them breathe when they come in with respiratory distress . It's some scary shit and some people still choose to not get the vaccine each year.

So the cunt, racist allocators at my girlfriend's job have put her to meet a China flight...

...so she's going to be helping and driving around Chinese disabled people...

you guys set up for world wide armageddon of death? i mean i think honestly you need supplies for a couple of months, after that everyone is gonna be super ded

Easiest way to tell is to ask a person if they know anyone with the coronavirus , if they say no ur all set!

As mentioned, I'm not downplaying it. Neither do I know how it will turn out, especially if this strain mutates. But as it is, the current strain, it's not serious at all.

I would believe my friends that work in hospital and one of them is in cell molecular biology research field over media/youtube.

Not telling people itt to live carefree, take all the precautions as advised. Just don't go pulling out your hair when you suddenly have a cough this few weeks/months.
