<<Console Wars>> PS5 vs. XSX

And we've come full circle. Irrespective of commonly used phrases or terms:

Otherwise, I can see you're determined to drag that thread into this one. I won't allow that, so I'm moving this derail there.

LOL. it ain't that serious. just admit you wrong and we can move on. you're getting teased cause you simply won't admit it. there's no shame in admitting defeat...

No, you are the only person who is wrong.

I just responded to you with a very clear, cogent differentiation between an upgrade and a game, but rather than admit you had no rebuttal, you retreated to repeating a previously defeated argument rooted in semantic dithering. One may cling to casual language, but that doesn't change the concrete facts.

We may call games given away on PS Plus, Xbox Live Gold, or other paid subscription services "free", and the corporations certainly love that, which is why they weave these terms into the names for their services themselves (i.e. "Playstation Plus Free Games", "Free Games with Gold"), but they are not truly free. The reason is simple. Subscription to the services costs money. The games may be "given away" at no additional charge, but there are payments required to claim them.

This is incontrovertible.

This is fundamentally, objectively different than truly free games on platforms like Epic Games, for example. There is no subscription fee.

The latter is free. The former is not. Rebut that, or concede.

LOLOLOLOL!

I've shown you your own post where you stated these games are free. It's your own post! Again you're the one who tried to correct me back then claiming they're not free but then turn around and post they are free.

It's a banal and petty technicality which you brought up yourself but then freely ignore whenever you post at your convenience.

The longer you stubbornly fight this the more amusing it gets... it's over nothing and you still fight this losing fight.. lol

Concession accepted.

Speaking of GWG and PS+

<{Heymansnicker}>

Mother fucker, my brother literally bought Squadrons for his PS5 like two weeks ago as it had been on sale for like 40% off. I don’t think he even got the chance to install it yet.

Okay, I the same pair of earphones for RE8 on the PS5/PC and I get a vastly better experience on PS5 with the sound.

This is because the onboard audio of the PS5 is better than your Pc motherboards.

There's a reason they have a loading screen for the PC version and none for the PS5....

All four versions having a loading screen. When it comes to the PS5's load time some trickery is happening in the background. Recent game prerequisites stay stored in the PS5's cache allowing for faster load times.

Its a technology primarily used on servers that use numerous HDD's to perform like an SSD when accessing data. Reason this technology isnt used on Pc's is for its benefits are negligible on standardized Pc storage devices. Plus Pc users dont want segments of their system resources being allocated for an unneeded task when another task is required.

PlayStation users left out of Borderlands 3 cross-platform features
Sony's recently revealed cross-platform revenue-sharing plan may be to blame.
Borderlands 3 players on Xbox consoles, Windows, Stadia, and the Mac will soon be able to band together across platforms thanks to a coming cross-play update. But players on the PS4 and PS5 will be left out of that group and will be forced to play only with other users on the PlayStation Network.

Gearbox co-founder and CEO Randy Pitchford discussed the situation in a tweet Thursday morning, saying that "an update for Borderlands 3 has been prepared for release that includes full cross-play support across all platforms" but that "for certification, we have been required by the publisher [presumably Take Two] to remove cross-play support for PlayStation consoles."
Sony, you may remember, consistently blocked cross-platform capabilities on PlayStation consoles for years before finally opening up its walled garden to cross-platform play in late 2018. Even after that, though, some developers publicly accused Sony of "playing favorites" regarding which specific games were allowed to use the feature.

"When we did turn [cross-play] on... we wanted to make sure we had thought out all the different ramifications of cross-play, cross-purchase, cross-progress," Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden told Game Informer in early 2019. "Those are all three very discrete aspects of what cross-play is, and there are decisions you make in provisioning those different pieces of it that if you make it quick and hasty and [it's] the wrong decision, you can put yourself in a corner really fast, and that prevents scalability over time and the ability to bring people in a secure and safe way."

More recently, in the Epic Games v. Apple trial, Epic revealed the existence of a "cross-platform revenue sharing" agreement for "partners" that publish such games on PlayStation. A slide shared during the trial lays out a complicated formula for calculating that revenue sharing amount in months when the PS4's share of overall monthly revenue for a game is less than 85 percent of the PS4's share of overall monthly playtime for that same game.

"In certain circumstances, Epic will have to pay additional revenue to Sony," Epic's Tim Sweeney said during testimony at the trial this month. "If somebody were primarily playing on PlayStation but paying on iPhone, then this might trigger compensation."

Devs accuse Sony of “playing favorites” with PS4’s cross-platform support

One has to assume these kinds of developer-unfriendly policies will continue to hurt Sony in the future for multiplatform games. It's ironic, too, given Epic's close ties to Sony when they've built their challenge to Steam's PC monopoly around a much more lucrative sharing model to developers. This will increasingly isolate Playstation gamers as we have already entered an era of much more robust cross-platform support in gaming, as the PC's dominance continues to rise, including its share of AAA gaming, but especially as we transition into a cloud gaming future.

I know it's not popular but I'm actually glad with how strict Sony is being about cross play. I don't want my multiplayer games getting mixed in with PC players. They cheat all the time and half the reason I still even buy consoles is to avoid it. Recently I discovered that Xbox players can't disable cross play on COD warzone and you can find tons of reddit threads with their users complaining about it. Thankfully Sony is so strict about this stuff that they most likely forced Activision to give users an easy way to disable it. The same option doesn't work for Xbox players though and they are pissed. They have to go through some convoluted account settings option which is so obscure that no one does it and then they can't find games in Warzone.

On PS5 it just says its having trouble finding games (after 15 seconds) it warns you twice and within 2 mins I have a game. The Warzone thing for Xbox to me is a future of things to come for that ecosystem. They will continue to be so open about cross play and it will only hurt their xbox players as they discover more and more cheaters on the games they love to play. Especially the FTP games which are just filled with hackers.

There are always going to be advantages with maintaining a walled garden. Stability and latency are likely two.

But being able to choose is objectively the supreme option for a gamer.

I hate crossplay with pc , i wish it was only xbox and ps. I hope this isnt a thing with bf6. Warzone has hackers maybe every other game.

BF6 thankfully isn't going to implement crossplay. Some of the worst hacking I've ever seen was on Battlefield games on PC. Be thankful you don't have to play with them. I remember one guy was head shotting everyone from the starting camp on the map. I looked at the kill screen and he was landing headshot after headshot from distances you can't even hit people from.

I really hope they dont consider it. Playstation has the option in warzone but goodluck getting in a game with it off

I've never had issues getting into a game on Playstation with the option off. It warns me that it's having trouble but I always get a game within 2-3 mins.

Still, crossplay shouldn't be the default option. The default should be platform restrictive. You should only have to turn that off knowing you want to match up against other platforms.

couldn’t agree more. One of the exact things me and cousin were complaining about when we first came across this whole cross play issue.

'Biomutant' Will Be Native 4K On Xbox Series X, But Not PS5
Biomutant-Feature-Art-320x180.jpg

THQ Nordic says it’s deactivated native 4K support for Biomutant on PlayStation 5 “due to technical reasons”.

Instead, the game will run at 1080p upscaled to 4K when played on PlayStation 5. In comparison the Xbox One version of the game will run at 4K / 60fps “with dynamic resolution” on Series X, and Series S will run at 1440p / 30fps.

A PS5 gameplay video published this week states that the option for native 4K on PlayStation 5 “has been deactivated due to stability- and performance-related reasons.”
