<<Console Wars>> PS5 vs. XSX

Amazing to be able to play something completely impossible on any other platform like Ratchet & Clank on PS5.

Really just no other experience compares when a title is fully optimized for the fastest selling console in gaming history.

1) The Tempest Audio Engine is accelerated by hardware, but there are 3D audio engines on PC with vastly superior discrete hardware solutions
Okay, I the same pair of earphones for RE8 on the PS5/PC and I get a vastly better experience on PS5 with the sound. Sure I could emulate the sound by using separate hardware/software attached to my PC, but the PS5 has it all in one. Its convenient.
2) The load times are objectively not quicker on the PS5 outside a tiny few outliers, and that's true even if using a PCIe Gen3 SSD like the Samsung 970 EVO. It loses the majority of head-to-heads so far assessed in this thread to the XSX, in fact.
Okay then, I assume youve played both PS5 and PC versions of RE8? There's a reason they have a loading screen for the PC version and none for the PS5....

Here's a little comparison.

3) HDR on the PS5 is inferior to the PC and the XSX. It's sporting the lowest standards. It is neither HDR10+ or Dolby Vision capable.
I literally said, in my experience. When using HDR setting on my monitor, the PS5 is vastly superior to the PC. I found that windows HDR looks too damn white and weird. But hey, seems like you can tell me my own experience of HDR...

Many guys on the forum have said the same thing with Windows HDR aswell.

Amazing. Everything you just said managed to be wrong.
Seems like youre just mad and actually wrong lmaooo.

Concession accepted.

Outlier-- as I said.

Not interested in anecdote. I'm highlighting the objective capability of the different machines.

Whatever makes you fall asleep on the anime body pillow buddy.

I wasnt talking about all games. I was talking about RE8 only, its you who brought up load times in general for games. Then put in that clause to give yourself an out, all so you could claim Im wrong. The mental gymnastics here is incredible. If you dont know or havent played it on both PC/PS5 or not seen videos of the load times for the game, then stop inserting your bullshit.

Then how can my experience be wrong? I Hmm, I guess you couldnt stop putting on that fedora cap to tell that peasant he's wrong...

This is the type of shit I'm talking about.. Did we really need the PS5?

im guess the load time is better? is this an example of the game developers not optimizing the experience for PS5?

It is more than that, and it is optimized fairly well from all I've read, but it's a lot of technical shit that really isn't a huge deal if you just want play the game. At the end of the day, it runs so well on last gen, that no matter what platform you're playing on, you're gonna come away with relatively the same experience. It's just a little slower and less shiny on last gen. It's not like playing a severely gimped PS2 version of a PS3 game or anything. At least from what I've been seeing and hearing.

"free" with a PS Plus subscription heh?

The headline isn't mine. I call these "perks" in the Services thread.

Just thought I'd share since I figured it would be appreciated.

You're posting it yes? The word "free" is an accepted term in describing these freebies for people with a subscription.

I accept your concession (finally). LOL.

I come to share a complimentary game on the system, and you're trying to pick a fight with me?

Do you need a timeout?

Saw this linked on another forum. Thought it would be interesting to share since there has been a lot of talk about the small size of the PS5 SSD compared to Series X:

AC: Valhalla is wrong. The install size is 45GB on XSX, not 72.5GB. Marvel's Avengers is 107GB, not 116.6GB.

It isn't surprising that PS5 game sizes will often be smaller since it is frequently running a lower average dynamic resolution, and textures/resolutions are typically the cause of the largest files in a game. As I've explained, this is often the same reason load times are lower. This is observed when you switch resolutions on PC games. In some cases the PS5's Kraken compression is being implemented, but it's been a back and forth depending on the game. The XSX also has next-gen compression.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was discussed above. Cyberpunk 2077 is 104GB on PS5, but just 72GB on XSX. FIFA 21 is reported at 56GB on the PS5, but 50GB on the XSX. NBA 2K21 is a whopping 122GB on the PS5, but just 97GB on the XSX.

This is why the PS5 reddit probably isn't the best place to find objective comparisons. A more comprehensive comparison would be interesting.

LOL.

you call this a fight? It was a small reminder of how inconsistent you are at time. You started that fight with me about the term "free" for no reason. It was petty at the time and i was just poking you about it right now. It ain't no thing to take seriously homey. Just smile and acknowledge I was right this entire time...

This is the flimsiest of semantic disputes. As the headline says, it is "free" for subscribers. Subscription to the service isn't free, so the game isn't free. It's complimentary, or a perk. Whatever terms you choose to assign to that, this is the brass tacks. The game is inaccessible to claim unless you're spending money.

You're being gratuitously pugnacious. I did not provoke this, and the thread doesn't benefit from it. Knock it off.

And yet:

Star Wars: Fallen Order for the Xbox One is still on sale at Wal-Mart for $19.93 (a day after Star Wars day):
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Star-Wars-Jedi-Fallen-Order-Electronic-Arts-Xbox-One/918879273

It hit this all-time low a few weeks ago on Amazon, but it quickly sold out. I'd jump on it at this price now, if you haven't played it, because a free upgrade for the XSX is coming this summer:
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gets PS5, Xbox Series X upgrade this summer

That is, of course, if you aren't a Game Pass subscriber, in which case you already have access to the game, and presumably this will include the improved version once it is updated in the summer.

How is this upgrade free? It's a "complimentary or a perk" according to you yes? You have to buy the game yes? There's no way for you to get this upgrade unless you buy this game or have a (paid) Game Pass subscription. An upgrade can be free (when you post about it) but a whole game cannot be free (when i post about it).

As I've stated before you picked a fight with me about the term "free" and yet abuse that same word whenever you want. I just wanted to point that out. You didn't provoke this? You provoked this a long time ago when you had a giant debate with me about how i use the term "free". I am just pointing out your inconsistency and reminding you how silly your take on this was when we argued.

<LikeReally5>

The upgrade is free, the upgraded game is not (because the game itself cost money). Yes, the upgrade is a complimentary perk, but the upgraded game is not, because the upgrade does not exist separate from the game, so it has no inherent standalone value. Meanwhile, games "given away" as perks on games services are sold separately, unto themselves, as content.

To argue otherwise is to argue that every single game on Game Pass is "free". After all, every tier of the service comes with separate functions. This is a disingenuous semantic disassociation of the service from the value purchased. It's silly and stupid.

And yet in another previous argument (with me again) you posted this:

PS Plus isn't the only service that gives away games for free. Xbox Live (and Game Pass Ultimate) include the Free Games with Gold giveaways. The XSX and XSS can actually play games that were given away on the Xbox 360 platform, too, due to superior backwards compatibility.

Concession accepted.

So is it free or is it not free? "Given away" = free yes?

<Dany07>

I am awaiting your concession...

And we've come full circle. Irrespective of commonly used phrases or terms:

Otherwise, I can see you're determined to drag that thread into this one. I won't allow that, so I'm moving this derail there.
