<<Console Wars>> PS5 vs. XSX

They did delay it. That is a fact. A lot of it had to do with COVID, though, including that trailer. The trailer was underwhelming, I agree. They shouldn’t have shown it in that state. Fact is people shit on the game before even playing it. What’s the difference?

Personally, I think they're biting off more than they can chew with "Halo: Infinite", and I won't be surprised if there are many more delays to come. The language the developers are using, kind of makes it sound like some big online looter shooter thing, that they want to cash in on, and make it their Fortnite, APEX, PubG, etc, microtransaction money maker. They're not the easiest things to develop.

I thought they were going for more of a Destiny\Division type setup for Infinite? I wont lie it sounded interesting as I tend to like those kinds of games for a bit anyways.

I’m not dismissing those games though. I said they aren’t killer apps and that they’ll be forgettable halfway through the PS5 generation. Especially when you have GoW and Horizon coming out. No ones going to care about Demon’s Souls remake.

The slightest bit of negativity towards anything PlayStation is met with anger.
Yeah they are a bit of an unhinged group. You should have seen a few pages back when I said something flippant like “PC beating up Sony”. They really raged hard over that

Nah, you said some stupid shit and got shoved in a locker.

Still upset over it though lmao.

You called Demon's Souls "mediocre." A game with 92% on MC.

I literally bought a PS5 for Demon's Souls Remake.

Im sure plenty of guys here did aswell. It was my first PS5 game that I purchased for the console. But its not a killer app apparently lol. Bloodborne moved PS4s and DeSR has moved and will continue to move PS5s. XBOX nerds have no ground to stand on when it comes to exclusives.

Yeah, something like that. I don't mind them, but they are not the easiest things to design, even though they seem simple enough. There are so many moving parts, and you have to get the gameplay loop just right, right out of the gate, or it will be abandoned in a month. You gotta have the magic formula. You can't just shit out something like "Anthem" and hope the bare necessities will carry it through. It's a big gamble, and they are likely gonna play test the shit out of it, before they pull the trigger. I gotta a feeling that that game is still a long ways off.

Yea the amount of content that is available in these types of games is crucial. Trying to make it bare bones and build it up from there through patches always ruins these games.

Yup, wouldn’t have pulled the trigger on one so early without Demon’s.

Yeah I know quite a few people who got a PS5 just to play it. I'd try but I suck at the Soulsborne games.

How timely.

Sony’s released a new miniature PlayStation 5 trailer dedicated to the console’s Game Boost feature, which is a marketing buzzword for the way in which backwards compatibility enhances select PlayStation 4 games. Obviously, we’ve seen the likes of Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima transformed with post-release patches – and it’s cool, it’s just overshadowed by Microsoft’s superior efforts.

Personally, we’d love to see more key PS4 titles improved on PS5, as releases like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Bloodborne are still brilliant and could really benefit from the new hardware. Sony seems more focused on new titles, though, and while the backwards compatibility on its next-gen console is still very good, we’re probably just going to have to accept that it’s never going to be quite at the same level as the competition.

^^how timely that Xbox just got ethered!

Court docs reveal Xbox’s internal Last of Us 2 review: ‘Sets a new bar for what we hope to achieve’

Quote:
The Xbox review states that The Last of Us Part II, “sets a new bar for what we should hope to be able to achieve going into a new generation of consoles.”

It says: “Last of Us Part II is the exceedingly rare video game where what it accomplishes in moving forward the art of narrative storytelling in video games as a medium ultimately outweighs whether or not everyone ‘likes’ it or even if everyone has ‘fun’ playing it.

“That said we loved it, had a great time playing it, and find ourselves still thinking about its characters and stories even after finishing the playthrough.”
Quote:
The internal appraisal reserved its strongest praise for The Last of Us Part II’s visuals and narrative.

“The visual quality and attention to detail in The Last of Us Part II is absolutely best-in-class in basically every area, and the overall presentation is significantly ahead of anything that other teams have been producing on console and PC,” the review reads.

“We were frequently stunned by the quality of the game’s visuals, something that sadly seldom happens these days. It’s even more impressive considering that the game features two separate player characters with different groups of allies, in different locations, along with flashback sequences taking place years before.”

The verdict goes on to highlight the game’s narrative-driven “walking simulator” chapters. “While these may not be what many gamers are expecting, they are exceptionally well done and really show what other games, especially pure narrative adventure games, should be aspiring to accomplish with their character dialogue, presentation and voice acting,” it says.

“That the player doesn’t have the ability to greatly influence or determine the outcome of the narrative might prove anathema to many players… however, we would argue that not every video game must be about the player roleplayer their character’s story.
Quote:
“The medium of interactive entertainment also needs games that drive stories where you are participating more in the capacity of an active ‘observer’, just like other mediums of entertainment, otherwise we’re going to be locked into a limited number of stories to tell.”

The internal review reserves its only criticism for combat, which it says improves on the original The Last of Us but is still sub-par.

“Naughty Dog still can’t seem to make decent gun combat in any of their games, and this one is no exception,” the review states. “Luckily for them it fits in with the game’s overall theme and pushes the player to use stealth over head on.

Even though my opinions n the game doesnt line up with the review, thats pretty much the best review Ive read for the game, and its by someone from Microsoft lol.

'The visual quality and attention to detail in The Last of Us Part II is absolutely best-in-class in basically every area, and the overall presentation is significantly ahead of anything that other teams have been producing on console and PC'

Its why these PC and Xbox nerds are mad.

My main reason for getting a PS5 at launch was also Demon's Souls.

It was another reason for me try and get the PS5 right away on launch. Both Demon's Soul and the Spider-Man special packaged game were the first thing i bought digitally as soon as my console was setup.

Love or hate the story, it's an undeniable technical achievement that developers should be impressed by, and strive to deliver. Nothing wrong with wanting to be "Naughty Dog". Those guys have a hell of a formula.

Watching the DF Tech Review of Resident Evil Village

- PS5 and Series X identical when playing without RT. 99.9% perfect 60 FPS..
- XBox X Series - 10% better FPS performance with RT On targeting 60 FPS.
- Load Time is drastically faster on PS5. Series X loads scenes at 8-9 seconds. PS5 loads at 1-2 seconds. Storage API on the PS5 is showing its strength here...

Ill take PS5 with the perfect 60 FPS without RT and low loading time FTW!!! :)
