You don't have to be convicted of a crime to trigger a morality clause, and you can be terminated immediately under them. They have to prove egregious violations in court to get out of paying.

At bare minimum, when you owe someone money and you want to argue you shouldn't have to pay them, you either have to pay them and sue them in court, or put the money in escrow and again go to court. It's not worth it for companies to go to court when they'll likely lose, so they just pay out the contracts.
