Conor vs Adesanya coming at you at UFC 300
Yeah but BJ fought actual MWs, LHWs and WWs... he didn't ask other guys from LW to fight him at MW....I remember when this fact was the trump card in BJ Penn fan's magic deck.
Conor exposed the bizzniss so hard.
How do you guys feel about the great feat of Conor fighting in 4 weight classes
IMO I don't give a shit ....he keeps bringing LWs up to 170 and 185.
But I'm sure he will use that to boost his ego saying he's won fights in 4 different weight classes in the UFC
What are your thoughts ?
Hes obviously not gonna win a title in any div,let alone one higher than 155,but his fans take consolation that he's there at all. Participation trophy lolKenny Florian has fought 4 weights. Conor's not special for doing it. If he were to win titles in 170 and 185 then we have something to talk about.
Rumble had fought at WW, Catchweight (177), MW, Catchweight (195), LHW, HW and was a super HW at one time. RIP.
Both, Rumble made WW a few times, its not like he was a HW fighting WW´s, he fought guys around his size, whats impressive is how well he carried his power up to LHW/HW, Till used to brag about being a LHW fighting at WW, which basically all of them are with the current level of weight cutting, but has competed only a division above with shit results, Rumble was a machine at LHW, he just ran into DC at the time. This wasn't impressive it was borderline criminal.

Meh. BJ Penn has fought at FW, LW, WW, MW, LHW, open weight.
To be fair, every WW today starts camp as high as LHW, some might start from +206lbs and drop/cut to WW, Edwards, the current WW champ is 6'2", Turner a LW is around that tall too, height is not the whole story, but its one we can compare directly. You said it yourself, He carried his power up to HW/LHW. He was a LHW from the start. He never should have been fighting MW's let alone WW, it was ridiculous.
He wasn't some regular huge WW/MW. There are tons of those in MMA, 99% of them don't do well if they go up to LHW and even HW because they're not outsizing their opponents to such comical degrees.
What makes it worse is he was one of the worst front runners in MMA history. In only 1 fight in his entire career he managed to overcome adversity and win a fight. His last one.
