Compare the hype of Conor vs Jones

"cHaEl fOuGht tHe tOp tEn". Lol, big deal. When was the last time McGregor fought someone who either isnt a champion or has fought for the title.

Chael was a way big quitter than McGregor. After all the smcak he talked, he wilted to the first offense he had to sustain in all these big fights. Even his victory over Bisping was a completely robbery to facilitate the Anderson rematch. If Conor ever got a decison like that we'd still be hearing about it in 50yrs.

Trying to compare the trash talk, hype, performances, or ability of Sonnen to McGregor is laughable. McGregor smashed Aldo in exactly the manner he said he would. Everyone said he was in way over his head (including me), but once he pulled it off it suddenly it was "but but but....Aldo, was gotten to, stupid, blah blah, blah". Then he immediately challenged the champion above (which is unprecedented) & won. Apparently Alvarez would wreck him too but suddenly, 8 minutes later, Alvarez was no good either. Its the same same shit after every one of his wins. Its so pathetic
Ya’ll don’t know who Eddie Alvarez is do you?

Wether as a hater or a fan Conor engages the people watching him. And he embraces his flaws and people respond to that.

Jones is a uptight hypocrite who has a proven record of being a two faced lying snitch.

And a proven roider. He also has shown a complete lack of self awareness and he does not give a shit about fans etc.

He is a scummy fighter and a shit person prete ding to be a good person.

Fuck him

Conor Bless
I don't like Conor either but Jones is on a different level. He's like GOAT scum.

Yeah I agree. Although if proven that CM did rape that woman........ Damn I won’t be supporting him.

What? He's the reason a whole card was cancelled for the first time ever because he didn't want to fight fucking Chael as a late replacement. He had the fight against Rumble cancelled because of his hit and run, the UFC 200 against Cormier cancelled because of his drug test and the UFC 178 against Cormier cancelled because of a torn meniscus.
To be fair, No one would want to fight me on short notice. I'm undefeated for a reason.

There are lots of reasons Conor gets more hype. 1 is that Jon is fighting guys casual fans have never seen or heard of. His fights with DC got a lot of hype and sold big numbers, less with Gus, and casual fans couldn't pick Smith, Santos or Reyes out of a lineup.

Conor also has Irish fans and a ton of American fans who think they're Irish. He's also just much better at promotion than really anyone else in the UFC and hardly ever goes to decision.

Conor has appealed to the casual masses, whilst Jones hasn't reached that level of attention outside of the hardcore fans.

However here on Sherdog at least you'd think there would be more interest, but whilst with Conbor people either love or hate him Jones just isn't as popular due to PEDs, out of cage activities, many expect Reyes to lose & want to see Jones tested up at HW.

Conor is a fuck up, too. Outside of the cage.

I don't think Jones has had a fight canceled. Is it really Jones being suspect of using ped's that leads him to be not as marketable?
Jones has had an entire ppv cancelled...

When Conor fought a few weeks ago, there were literally thousands of threads, and they even had to get merged to make it a couple of hundreds.

Now we have Jones fighting, and there are a few threads, sure - but it isn't even remotely comparable.

Yet Jones is (everyone would probably aggree here) far closer to being a GOAT.

Why is that? Jones has never lost, should be a superhero - not least compared to McGregor who's lost a few times. They also share the notion of being perceived as a "bad guy", and they have both had to deal with a fair deal of wrongdoings outside of the Octagon.

Jones should be AT LEAST as popular as Conor. Why isn't he?

Some false assumptions in there. A lot of people don’t rate him as close to being the GOAT.

In which case it’s just an unlikable fighter and proven multiple time drug cheat defending a belt in one of the more boring divisions.

Which is pretty much in line with the level of interest you see.

Ah yes, the quintessential " DERP RACISM DOESNT EXIST!" narrative, brought to you by Trump's finest.

People loved Rampage because Rampage acted like an uneducated inarticulate brute. The same reason why they like Derrick Lewis. We've been over this before.... articulate intelligent black guys, ala Usman, Adesenya, Mighty Mouse, Jones, DC, get very little love from a huge portion of the UFC's fanbase.

- DC is a guy who's a pudgy 5'9 LHW, who smashed HW's his entire career, and up until recently , had only lost to the GOAT. All of this while approaching 40 yrs old. If he was a white guy, people would be talking about how he was one of the GOATs. But because he's a black guy, every day people on here try to diminish his achievements and act like he wasn't that good.

- Usman is no different than GSP....a dominant wrestler who gets guys on their back and controls them an entire fight. Both guys have a boring fight style and have had majority decision wins. But 1 of those 2 his revered as one of the best fighters ever, while the other is consistently belittled on here as boring and unwatchable, even WITH his last win being a KO. You see the difference?

- Adesenya is another great example. Here's a guy who finishes fights in spectacular fashion, with a KO win over one of MW's toughest fighters, yet hate is rampant on here for him. They cant use the steroid excuse like they do with Jones, and they cant use the "he's boring" excuse like they do with Usman, so instead now come with a new excuse...."he's corny" LOL like wtf does that even mean? It means people are desperately searching for a reason to hate him. Just imagine if a guy with Adesenya's record and dominance was White....

- You guys love to use the size excuse to justify the hate that MM always got on here, but TJ Dillashaw was only 10 lbs heavier and he was getting nothing but love on this site, with some people trying to paint him as a future GOAT. The Mighty Mouse thing was an absolute fucking travesty...... here's a guy who keeps his nose clean, doesnt get into any trouble outside of the cage, dominates his weightclass, and whose fight finish ratio is as good as guys 50 lbs heavier than him..... yet people STILL hated him and made fun of him every chance they got. Now just imagine if MM was a white guy, like Dillashaw...

- Jones....lets not even go there. The guy's record speaks for itself. NEVER lost a fight in the octagon, NEVER even been rocked. NOONE has done that before in the history of MMA. Clearly the GOAT fighter for any objective person, but because he's black, excuses fly about him. Steriods ( as if almost every other fighter in the UFC isnt on a performance enhancer), physical advantages ( we see how well reach and height advantage worked for Struve DERP), literally any excuse they can use because they don't want to admit that a black guy is one of the greatest fighters we've seen. AND don't even bring up the arrest thing, because people were hating on him here LOOONG before any of that happened. I'm a Sherdog OG, and I was here back when people were hating on him after he helped a mugging victim in a park.

Conor Mcgregor - Here's a guy who has proven himself over and over again to be a shit human being....beats on his fans, assaults old men for not drinking his shit liquor, snorts coke, throws dollies through windows, multiple rape allegations surrounding him.....yet every time he fights, he breaks records. Now Imagine if he was a black guy? How would those same "fans" be reacting to his quality of character?

You asked you my favorite fighters were.... Bisping and Overeem, and you'll know that if you've seen any of my previous posts. I love both guys because I admire how they overcome adversity beyond all odds to acheive their goals, and I couldnt give less of a fuck about their skin color. I don't care for Jones or Conor, both appear to be low quality human beings. But Jones although not one of my favorite fighters, is the best fighter I've ever seen step into that octagon. People can like who they want to like. But when who you like is affected by skin color, and not what kind of person they are and the skills they have, that's an indication of a pretty shitty human being.
How do you explain guys like Stipe, Volkanovski, Cejudo, Whittaker ect? Why no love? And why does Ngannou and Yoel get more love than these guys?

Adesanya has over 2 million instagram followers and is on his way to becoming a huge star, and I'm not sure why you think DC gets no love.

If you can't see why Conor, GSP and Khabib are more popular than Jones and Usman for anything but race, then I don't know what to tell you.

I actually enjoy your posts and respect you as a poster alot, so not looking to get into a fight with you. To say that none of it has to do with race is a bit disingenuous. But I agree that there are other elements at play too.

Are we gonna pretend like Ngannou wasn't mentally traumatised after Stipe's beating? That Derrick Lewis fight just didn't happen in your brain?

You mean the "beating" where the ref had to tell Stipe to work 4 times because he was so inactive? Lol if that's a beating, what do you call what DC did to Stipe in the first fight?

The question "Why isn't Jones as hyped as Conor" should be flipped to "Why is Conor more hyped than everyone else".
Cause it's not like Jones has a problematically low hype relative to the average. He's above average and one of the best PPV-sellers. But just like everyone else doesn't get close to that insane level of Conor-hype.

Being a dominant champ probably results in lowering the hype for many fights against opponents who aren't seen as special.
I wasn't on Sherdog at the time but I can't imagine there being THAT much hype for fights like GSP vs Hardy or Silva vs Leites.

True. But Jones didn't really get into the Conor-hype-level even during the first part of his reign when he was fighting well known names like Shogun, Rampage, Rashad Lyoto, Vitor and Sonnen - and finishing most of them in exciting fashion.

There was surely a bit more buzz before each of those fights in the forums. But doubt they made a big impact on the casual's radar.

Conor was the perfect storm of charisma, trash talk and results in the cage. No one else has millions watching the press conferences to see what he's gonna do next.

His ability to market himself like he has led go him becoming the biggest PPV draw since Tyson and Mayweather.

Jones dominates people and is miles aheas of his comp. The cormier fight had hype. Conor is not miles ahead of his comp and a more realistic chance he loses.

Jones is/was also on steroids...I guess that doesn't matter, right? Some of you MMA fans are very strange.

Lots of WWE fans in MMA unfortunately
It's called casuals.

Bones is so dominant, he killed the lhw long time ago and is "guilty" that his fights are not popular anymore... Conor on the other hand has the biggest hype machine ever made in the mma, knows how to make a big hype himself and is the most popular mma fighter ever, so I get it.
