Do I need to read The Avengers and New Avengers to enjoy Infinity like people are saying?

Yes.

New comics history documentary on PBS tonight. Its going to be a series apparently and the first ep. seems to be pretty superficial Superman and Batman early days stuff but it is well put together. I'm interested to see where it goes.

Wow, I haven't heard about this. Is it Kevin Burns?

Which Avengers books so I read, AUR, and what issues should I start on?

I don't have my iPad with me (it has all the issues), but if you p/u Infinity #1 it gives you a map of issues. Avengers and New Avengers did a lot of build up toward Infinity but none of it made sense so just pick up the issues on the list. Each issue begins with a summary of events.

Thanks for the tip.

Are Avengers(s) series worth reading though?

Avengers is good. Art is good and the story is a lot more sensible than New Avengers. New Avengers does pick up on the conflict between Namor and Black Panther than began in Doomwar. Other than that it is pretty meh, and the storyline is a convoluted mess.

Which villain's month titles did everyone like/recommend and why? I want to pick up Reverse-Flash, Zod, and Darkseid but they were all sold out.

Out of the ones I have, I've liked most of them. I own Joker, Black Adam, Clayface, Secret Society, Deadshot (which was my favorite one out of all the ones I own), as well as 3D cover Bane and Parasite.

Also, is it necessary to read JL:A and JL:D to understand the Trinity War? If so, which issues of those should I read?

It wasn't Ken Burns and it turned out to be more of a documentary for people who don't really know comics. Aside from a brief segment on Jim Steranko's early work there wasn't much there I wasn't already familiar with.

It is called Superheroes: A Never Ending Battle and if you are in the US of A the whole thing should be available on PBS.org.

Also I knew Grant Morrison was Scottish, but I didn't know just how Scottish.

Also, I kind of miss the three Thor dynamic in Thor: God of Thunder. I hope they bring the other two Thors back.

Well you should be reading Avengers and New Avengers anyway because both titles are awesome to begin with..

But yeah you kinda have to buy both to really get the full effect of Infinity... Its only an extra $8 a month for those two titles and they really compliment the story...

If you collect DC just drop some of their garbage and replace it by some of Marvels top notch stuff theyre currently putting out..

Yeah, I'm not a fan of DC. I like their movies, but not their comics. I just added both Avengers series to my reading list. My Marvel now reading list so far is:

  • Avengers
  • Avengers A.I. (I'm disappointed with this one. I'll stick it out, but Hank Pym deserves better. He needs his own series before his movie comes out. )
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Hawkeye
  • Indestructible Hulk
  • New Avengers
  • Thor: God of Thunder

I might add Uncanny Avengers if that's any good. I'm going to add Inhumans when the series starts in January. Any Marvel Now! comic series you recommend?

Daredevil and Hawkeye are the two best ongoing Marvel series at the moment imo.

Batman #24 is pricey at $6.99 but it was a good read.

The 2nd section with Rafael Albuquerque's art was the shit. Alfred's speech makes sense and something that has never brought up before in any Batman comics I've read.

yeah it was pretty good, did you notice all the homage in the art?

IMO Thor: GoT is the best story going. God Butcher and God Bomb pwnt every other MarvelNow arc since it dropped.

I don't know how I feel about the Malekith storyline just yet though. They should've just had Sif and The Warriors Three go with Thor. But who knows? Maybe Aaron has better plans.

Hawkeye though, bro. That comic is amazing, bro. Probably tied as my favorite or my second favorite comic right now, bro. I can't get enough of it, bro.

Gotta say, I'm really enjoying Schism a lot. Great art work and enjoying the villains.

Well I really like Uncanny Avengers a lot, I wanna see where Remender takes this title.. Its almost a throwback comic, there's certainly a "pulp" style going on in Uncanny.
To be honest bro, I wait till a lot of the titles come out in trade, its just easier to manage and store.

but my monthly pull list is:

Avengers, New Avengers and Uncanny Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy (which I personally think is an awesome title)
Uncanny X-men and All New X-men
plus the Brian Wood penned Dark Horse Star Wars title (which is also awesome)

and I collect a lot of monthly mini series, Thanos Rising, Hunger, Infinity etc etc etc...

Id suggest Uncanny Avengers and the X-Men titles, but you might be better off waiting till those ship in trades, especially for the X-men books...

and also what the other posters have said Hawkeye and Daredevil are both incredible Marvel titles. Im looking forward to picking up the trade of Hulk and Thor, Im very curious about those two.

I noticed several but I'm sure I missed a lot because I've never read Batman comics before 1988. The ones I noticed:

Tec Cover
Dark Knight Rises city Bat Symbol
Red Hood falling to the acid

Did I miss anything else?

It's funny. I thought about it, but I didn't like the art enough. Now that I think about it, why not give the story a chance? I mean if I can power through the rough art of Charlie Adlard drawing the walking dead, right?
