I find Chris Claremonts Xmen to be extremely wordy, far to much narration, and at times just dull.

Sure some of the stories are great but a lot is very tough to get through.

you know I actually agree with this, at times it was like get to the dam point Claremont!

You guys need to stop drinking and posting, you're not making sense.
Claremont's initial run on the X-Men is pretty close to perfect. The only longer, more flawless run, imo, is Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1.

I would love a little more verbiage in today's comics.

nah it really is long, what carried a lot for me was the art, I suppose if I was drunk I could have enjoyed it more though

It's all the fucking thought bubbles. Soooo many thought bubbles and pretty much all of them are pointless. Most of the time it's just a character walking down a damn hallway and then 10 million thought bubbles pop up and I start ripping my pubes off because of how inane it all is. I'm glad that's a trend that has pretty much died.

Other than all that though I've enjoyed Claremont's run. :icon_lol: It has its ups and downs which of course is perfectly acceptable for such a long run.

I'm trying to start a flash collection. I own a lot flash comics. The Geoff Johns Omnibuses and a lot of waids stuff.

I'm trying to grab some memorabilia/Wall art/Specific issues to frame and hang up. Do you guys have any ideas what to pick or where I could pick it up

this is just me but I would get some Carmine Infantino Flash art, he's probably the most legendary artist to draw the Flash

there's some pretty awesome Flash statues out there too

Received and read Invincible vol 20. Quality stuff as usual, but lol @ Mark being haped. I died.

So I just finished the Ultimates Vol 1.

Very quality series. Easily one of the better runs I have read.

I am about to star on Vol 2.

But a few random funny things you've all probably realized before now since I am late to the game with these comics:

-Never realized Samuel Jackson's black eye patch'd Nick Fury actually had source material it was based upon until I read Ultimates. Found it hilarious he actually talks about casting Samuel Jackson as himself in a movie! What was that 6 years before Iron Man?

-One of the issues had a joke about getting smashed more times then RDJ..which I found hilarious. I wonder if RDJ knows they were making fun of him before they ended up casting him in Iron Man.

Over the last two weeks I've read.

Hit-Girl
Part of what the 2nd Kick-Ass movie was based on and showing how it can be done better than it was on the big screen.

Kick-Ass 2
Weakest of the books. Justice Forever vs TMC goes from fun to disturbing to gruesome. That's gruesome on the Kick-Ass scale.

Kick-Ass 3
Fantastic ending to the saga. Read the final two parts while pacing around the house as I was too nervous to sit.

Batman Zero Year-Secret City
More of a set up to Dark City than anything.

Ms Marvel Vol 1
Had heard a lot of good things about this. Was a fun read, really liked the look of character faces when seen from a distance.

Just finished ultimates 2

You bastards really spoiled me with these series.

I thought 2 was even better then 1. Captain America is a goddamn badass. Hawkeye is a goddamn badass.

Funny, gritty, all around enjoyable series.

Those 2 stories are badass.

I completely agree with this...

Anyone reading Grayson?

I'd been picking it up but finally got around to reading it.. Good stuff.

It's like a more serious, less vulgar Archer comic featuring some Batfolk.

C'mon brah. Its a comic. There are probably 50 words on a page filled with prime John Byrne illustrations with prime X-Men characters and character development going on.

If Claremont didn't write as much as he did then the characters we love today wouldn't be as rich as they are. If anything characters have lost layers since they strayed from this practice. I also think that writing kept the writers honest and on point.

Another thing that grinds my gears is how they all of a sudden got rid of the (*)* indicating what issue is being referenced. How do new readers have any idea what the hell is going on these days?

yeah it's pretty good and it's surprisingly selling well. Like the whole 60's spy vibe to it. I keep trying to pick up issue 3 as that's the only one I'm missing but my store won't reorder more

That brings back memories of going through stacks at the comic shop looking for a past issue that was usually worth several times the cover price. You were fucked if Wizard deemed that comic expensive. The comic industry did a good thing with moving toward easy access to TPBs.
