Colby's TS means no stars in the UFC

The fact that Colby, he is 35 !!! , get a TS, while staying aside in the pool for 1 year, means that the UFC do really not have stars.

And they are failing to build ones faster.

The exception is Poatan, they got him and now he is a popular fighter.

But there are exciting guys like Shavkat, Topuria, Arman, Fiziev, even Jiri, and they fail to promote them. It would have been a win-win situation, but no.

Being a monopoly does not mean you know how to do business.

If it would have been football, you would have had competition. Just check premier league or primera division.

They're not a monopoly they're a monopsony.

The ufc and Dana are genuinely terrible promoters

they don’t create stars, the stars create themselves

I feel like they were a lot better back in the day when they could hype me for gimme fights like GSP vs Hardy. These days they dont seem to give a shit. The Adesanya Pereira storyline should have been a lot bigger. Same with the Volk vs Islam fight.

yup, this. Colby is bigger, despite less skilled, less active, he's bigger in certain demographics. it's almost as if all of these "likes" on IG from other countries, doesn't help their product. WEIRD. OR IS IT? No. The more popular fighters gets the shot, everytime. Likes from Kazahkstan and the foothills of Dagestonia, don't do shit for them.

Want to confuse an average sherdogger? Just use "monopsonistic market power" in a sentence ;)

Im not trying to kill the boys here sir ;)
I hate how little knowledge some "fans" have though.
If you're going to call someone/company something at least get the terminology right sir lol

Colby isn't getting a title shot cause he is a draw, he is getting a title shot in exchange for dropping the lawsuit against Masvidal. Masvidal has his own combat sports league and I think the UFC has ties to it so Masvidal being suited is bad for their business.
This mixed with MAGA cronyism.
Dana and buddies are on the dole for political lobbying and shady deals.
Let's not forget that Abu Dhabi's govt essentially propped up the UFC during covid thru now in exchange for letting them use the UFC and a pro-russia-ally and pro-UAE advertisement. Which also helped give Endeavor/UFC the illusion of massive profitability so they could setup this sketchy IPO merger with WWE at an inflated value and sell off shares to rubes on the stock market for huge price per share.

There are plenty. Dana is just hell bent on getting someone who appeals to shithole states as a champion.

TS means something very different on the other forum I frequent

You become a star only by

-Beating a star
-A star rubbing off on you.
-Doing something exceptional
-Being very good for a long ass time
-Having a X factor.
-You most likely need to be top 10 or champ.

If given an opportunity to headline, I am sure Paddy and Sean would do well.

I feel like Poatan is not really a star.
He stole some of Izzy's thunder but he's not tall enough to stand on his own.
Paddy is definitely not skilled enough. They're already running out of total cans to feed him.

Back in the day UFC was getting to make its name, and some fighters were legitimately bigger than the brand in terms of recognition.

Different story now, the brand is the end all be all, and content is what matters to the revenue streams, not necessarily superstars.

UFC doesnt know how to promote fighters, thats why they expect fighters to do all the work themselves to get a title shot.

Look no futher than how theyve mismanaged Khamzat Chimaev, someone that has superstar potential, and hes been sitting on the shelf despite his eagerness to fight.

That sentence gave me cancer.

Who gives a shit about stars, if that's your only concern go watch pro wrestling and watch a bunch of stars. I'm here for the fights and fights only, could care less about stars and mic antics.

While the UFC is certainly working on its global expansion, it’s still an American company with a predominantly English speaking fanbase. Shavkat, Arman, Topuria, Fiziev and Jiri are foreign non-native speakers. It’s quite a bit harder to sell a fight when the participants don’t speak the primary language of the audience and the most prominent media outlets. It’s why Anderson and Aldo’s profiles benefited from having Chael and Conor as dance partners.

All those guys speak English except Shavkat. Jiri and Topuria are both hilarious at pressers and don't need translators.

They're hoping drama sells and Colby is better at offending people than he is a winning titles sooooo

What’s the alternative? Have him smash some rising stars and take the shine off their would-be title contention? No, a TS is the only answer for Colby, and I honestly doubt he’ll win.

In wildlife conservation, sometimes a fading alpha male becomes too old to sire anymore children, but is still strong and virile enough to kill any challengers that would take his place as alpha. Ultimately, for the good of the species, conservationists will have to kill the old alpha. Colby must be killed.

You're reading too deep into this

It's a fight that makes sense

Any fight a lot of people would spend money on to see makes sense to the promotion
