Media Colby exposed for eating well done steak

Man, what kind of meat are you eating that you can't eat a medium rare steak without worry of it harming you?

Is this a thing in America? That you might be at a restaurant where you can't trust a medium rare steak not to poison you? I live in Canada, and over here this is patently NOT a thing.
Only at Waffle House or Big Rigg’s

Everyone acting like you can't get food poisoning at a "good restaurant" or with a "good steak" probably never worked in restaurants.

I worked in restaurants for over 10 years and eat rare steak 3-4 times a week living in KC.

My favorite foods are sushi and beef carpaccio and the two times I can remember getting food poisoning in the last 20ish years came from BBQ and an overnight pizza.

The idea that people are concerned about food poisoning from steak is hilarious. This ain't chicken. Sear the outside and you are fine eating it raw inside.

How many hands do you think touch that plate and food before you eat it?

You have quite a bit more faith in the sanitary practices of restaurant staff than I do.

Well this applies to asparagus too. You CAN get food poisoning from any contaminated food item - literally anything.

Is the likelihood with steak higher or lower than other meats? Or even veggies? I believe the answer is no - that there is no reason to single out steak - even a rare steak.

Oh it is. Everywhere. Mr high and mighty over here. You probably never cut weight before.

And yes, well done steak is kinda meh
High and mighty because I think it's ridiculous to suspect medium rare steak (particularly) of carrying food poisoning (more than any other food)?

That's what makes me high and mighty??

And, no, I've never cut weight. But I've eaten a well done steak. And it's shit. Is that why I'm high and mighty??

I was talking in general, not a restaurant per see.
And, no, I don't live in the US.
Cool. I guess I thought steak was (as) safe (as any other food) worldwide. I kind of still do. But fair enough - I get you.

Overcooked doesn't need to be dry (although obviously much more difficult to do properly; and you need a really good piece of meat to maintain the moisture.
Well I admit that I've never seen a well done steak that wasn't dry and, especially, tough. But maybe I haven't lived.

Or anything else that the servers, bus people, runners, etc touch.

The entire industry of food service requires that everyone pretend like the dude that sets out the silverware doesn't scratch his ball sack or have a cold.

I have seen some nasty bastards working in bars/restaurants.

Good for him, in a earlier embbedded Edwards had to turn down his mama's cooking from her resturant because he was making weight. Truthfully I'd rather diet down then rehydrate up to a bigger stronger me.
And yet Colby had that weight cutting voice at the media day and Leon sounded fine.

Rare steaks are for Girls. Real Man grabs a bull by its horns while lookin it in the eye, goes for the triple leg takedown while biting chunks out of its loins on the way down. Unfortunately Real Man can only do this once.

You gotta tenderize and oil it (as opposed to the pan) then baste the F--- out of it; and it's still not gonna be as moist; but...

No it’s not. By cooking a steak past medium you remove the fat, moisture, and tenderness which are the qualities that make steak so amazing.

Nothing wrong with steak tartare either. Raw isn’t my preferred way but it’s good. A medium rare ribeye is my favorite by far

This, although I am more of a medium well guy. I used to be a well done guy until I realized it takes a lot of the good flavor away. I think getting heavy into grilling changed my perspective.

Can’t do rare though, it gets to the point where I don’t like the texture anymore

Skirt steak is a good option for people who like med-well to well. It can still be tender at those temps especially if you use a sous vide and/or a marinade that tenderizes the meat.

counterpoint, you don't want parasite in your stomach before the fight
