News Colby Covington vs Leon Edwards official for UFC 296

Who wins?

  • Colby Covington

  • Leon Edwards

Results are only viewable after voting.
We’ve seen Edwards get out worked, and get nearly KO’d when he’s tired.

Colby doesn’t get tired.
He definitely doesn’t have anywhere near the striking effectiveness of the champ; but he’s the king of the scramble.

If I was betting on Colby, I’d be worried about his age.
He ain’t young anymore.

A lot of what I am going by is the last Usman fight where Edwards won 4 rounds. He shut down Usmans entire game, which is stronger than Colbys.

Would be awesome if Colby pulls that off! Not just for the obvious Sherdog outage.

It was especially funny watching Colby haters before his first titleshot talking about how he was shit looking at his resume and at the same time praising Usman who had a very similar resume only difference was that Colby had beaten a few of the guys before Usman did and also more convincingly.
Comparatively it’s funny to think about all the brain dead Colby fans that talked shit about Usman for fighting Masvidal but here we are and Jorge is quite literally Colby’s best win in over five years. Pretty sad.

Ok

Colby is a F’ing machine; and tough as they come.
He doesn’t quit.
His opponents literally have to break him to stop him from fighting.

That said, in Usman 1 he was face down ass up nowhere near being in on that single taking undefended shots to the side of the head after being dropped twice.
While he very well may have been ok capable of continuing, he stopped intelligently defending himself.

Goddard had no reasonable option other than* stopping* the fight.

So you think being wobbled doesn't classify as being hurt?

Or

That when the guy had to fake getting nutshotted in order to get a break from the aftermath of the body kick that just landed, that's not actually worthy of being called hurt? Because you have such a tougher concept of what being hurt is, right?

Or going on the retreat, almost running away, after getting another kick to the body.

Lawler?
The guy was on his way out, Lawler in his prime would've set Colby on fire and watched him burn.

Woodley was pretty much a corpse at that point.
The last really good guy that Colby beat was Maia...and Stun gun a million years ago sir.

Lawler in his prime was capable of sleepwalking through fights like when he lost to Babalu or getting owned by grapplers like Tim Kennedy, Jacare, Jake Shields, etc. and to a lesser degree Johny Hendricks.

Covington most definitely could’ve beat him in his prime.

Covington didn't beat that Lawler sir.

So he was only in his prime when he rejoined the UFC in 2013?

Did I say that or are you putting words in my mouth?

I said that Colby beat a 38 year old Robbie that was not in his prime and still couldn't hurt him.

Colby has done fuck all to deserve a title shot.
Nothing, not a damn thing.

@OldBoy91 said it best in here.

Colby beat The ghost of Tyron, out of prime Lawler, and the semi retired Masvidal.....all 38 years old.

If you want to further this conversation please come up with a reason why that deserves a title....after sitting out and rank squatting for 2 years.

I can't come up with a reason either sir.

I thought Colby retired and opened an eyeliner factory?

@jitzmonkey so if someone would have his opponent wobbling, like Usman was wobbling, but the bell hadn't rung yet. And he'd think, "Shit! I've got him hurt! I gotta capitalize on this opportunity, immediately!" You'd think he'd be wrong for thinking his opponent is hurt?

It's funny how many pasty maga losers are riding for Colby in this

So the guy that completely outclassed Kamaru Usman in their last and most recent fight, Leon edwards, is going to get destroyed by a guy that usman beat twice? A guy who has no wins over current top 10 welterweights? OK then

I am gonna bump this after Colby lay n pray gently on Leon Scott for five rounds.

Bad matchup for colby.leon is like usman except in his prime right now

Soo dumb

No one wants to watch that 2-2 crotch sniffer fight with wins only over Masvidal and a super washed Woodley since 2020

The matchup is interesting stylistically and personality wise. Not meritocracy driven obviously.

Not sure how Colby beats Leon if Usman couldn't, though, other than endless cardio.

In what way is Leon like Usman other than being black? lol
