Did I say that or are you putting words in my mouth?

I said that Colby beat a 38 year old Robbie that was not in his prime and still couldn't hurt him.

Colby has done fuck all to deserve a title shot.
Nothing, not a damn thing.

@OldBoy91 said it best in here.

Colby beat The ghost of Tyron, out of prime Lawler, and the semi retired Masvidal.....all 38 years old.

If you want to further this conversation please come up with a reason why that deserves a title....after sitting out and rank squatting for 2 years.

I can't come up with a reason either sir.

What are you talking about? Certainly nothing of the point you’re defending. If Lawler could lose to those people in the fashion he could certainly lose to Covington too? You said something bizarre about Lawler setting him on fire.

Mentally I think Leon has shown his hand in terms of how he feels about the match up. Which makes me think he is indeed scared of the cardio and chain wrestling/pace of Colby. Classic match up. Wouldn't be surprised is Leon wins. Colby is aging.

Guess Jones got his way with his big leaguing not wanting Colby on the same card as him.

While I don't think the fight is really fair, I like it. Seeing all the Colby haters makes me laugh

A lot of what I am going by is the last Usman fight where Edwards won 4 rounds. He shut down Usmans entire game, which is stronger than Colbys.

Full Disclosure: I'm not a fan of Colby's approach to fighting (just impressed by his toughness and cardio; and love his body kicks.)
That said, Colby will try to wrestle significantly more.

You may very well be right.
We just haven't really seen anyone shut him down yet, though.

I'd love to see Edwards pivot and catch Colby off the centerline and stifle the American's shot.

So you think being wobbled doesn't classify as being hurt?

Or

That when the guy had to fake getting nutshotted in order to get a break from the aftermath of the body kick that just landed, that's not actually worthy of being called hurt? Because you have such a tougher concept of what being hurt is, right?

Or going on the retreat, almost running away, after getting another kick to the body.

Due to the angle that he throws his kicks (which I like in general,) I've always assumed that Usman's cup was grazed.
I also assumed that due to the high stakes (and considering who the challenger was) that Usman didn't want to give him a single moment of advantage that he didn't need to.

BTW, not a hill I'm willing to die on.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

@jitzmonkey so if someone would have his opponent wobbling, like Usman was wobbling, but the bell hadn't rung yet. And he'd think, "Shit! I've got him hurt! I gotta capitalize on this opportunity, immediately!" You'd think he'd be wrong for thinking his opponent is hurt?

That's not what I would call "hurt;" but for the purposes of the conversation: I understand the point that you're making.

Leon beat that ass.

Colbi is a punk. He has only beaten has been and bums.

If Colby is the same guy he's been in recent years, he wins an easy decision.

this is such an undeserved title shot colby's last win against a current ufc fighter is 1931 days old this is the least deserving titleshot that i can remember in the last 5 years
If Colby loses though he will never be high profile again. Especially with Strickland stealing his thunder as being the 'loudmouth' fighter who backed it up with a dominant win into a belt. This is basically do or die for Covington's entire legacy, career, and image. If he loses in any way then he is finished and will basically be relegated to Sonnen status of just being the contrarian dork on social media and an analyst who never won a championship (though Chael did win a against a champ who missed weight and was robbed of a belt).

If Colby wins expect a McGregor callout right in the octagon. He's been mentioning Conor quite a bit in the last week. Covington is getting old for 170 though so a win against Leon would be an upset. Still should be exciting.

Would have favored Colby until recently. Leon looked strong last fight, and his shots are starting to carry more zip. Could see it being similar to the second Usman fight. Colby can really pile up the volume though, so if Leon is sluggish or doesn’t get Colby’s respect he can easily lose.
