CM Punk gets video response from JDF (Green Ranger)

Are we just suppose to pretend this would be a fair fight lol

Punk wouldn't make it to the final bell. I'm not sayin that JDF is Sensei Segal, but you don't get a 7th degree black belt in anything from a cracker jacks box. Dude would probably beat punk up pretty badly lol.

I'm sure you can buy a Black belt in Gracie Brazilian Jujitsu from Walmart now. ( My god those guys breed :P )

As I said before JDF needs this fight to stay relevant, to stay in the spotlight. Because Punk's first fight ( if he has skills or not ) will be a huge ppv payday. He says Dana doesnt have to pay him. But he will still get a cut from the buys and the gate. As well as a chance of getting a contract. Punk doesn't have to do shit. He doesnt even need to be doing this. And that pisses people off.

JDF said he'd fight Punk for free to be fair to him.

Well if you actually watched the interview you would know that this Drax is being written based on the one portrayed in the movies.

Except he's not.
If you actually knew anything about the topic you're trying to discuss, you'd know that the movie Drax is based on a relatively recent incarnation of the comic Drax, and that the series will, in fact, most likely be a once-off story, based on the established character, and untied to the film.
They are not at a comic convention in the video, and so Punk probably just explained in the easiest way he knows how to a bunch of people who, like you, know very little about the comic characters.

How do I know this? Because Drax is only the latest Guardians of the Galaxy character to receive his own solo spin-off from the main Guardians comics. Rocket's had one too, and guess what? Not based on the movie.

Also he wrote Thor and as of March he has written for Vertigo ( owned by DC ) for a series called Strange Sports.

He co-wrote a short story in each of those annuals. He hasn't actually written a complete comic yet.

I'll accept that apology anytime now.

And here is another way in which I'm better than you. You're actually wrong on all counts, and I still won't try to drag an apology out of your ignorant hide ;)

And your whole argument has dissolved into the ether. And no one writes a whole comic by themselves. Not even Frank Miller. Im well aware that Drax has been around for years, but they are changing his whole personality. Apology is still waiting to be accepted when you are ready.

CM vs anyone on the roster wouldn't be a fair fight. That is why I like this matchup. Will be huge for the casual fans.

I honestly don't care anything about Phil Brooks. I won't be ordering the PPV he is placed on, unless it's against green ranger lol. Otherwise I'll just tune into sherdog for the endless gifs of dude getting laid out.

You can buy one from them online. They said BJJ was too violent to have them sold in store :)

belt status doesn't mean much. It's one persons interpretation of another's skill level. I've seen purple belts tap out black belts and I'm sure you have too. Karate generally doesn't translate very well into MMA although there have been exceptions of course. Muay Thai does though and if he actually has competed then I would agree he would certainly be a strong favorite.

I do see what you're saying for belt status, but there is still the fact that he has a win via omoplata and that you have to have at least 2 years of experience as a blue belt before you can become a purple belt. CM Punk has only been training BJJ properly for about a year and a half.

This fight won't happen. CM Punk is the star....and this other guy has more fight experience, and is bigger and younger? Ufc doesn't want Punk to get smashed by the washed up Green Jesus Ranger.....

Although it would be awesome if they did!!

yea the omoplata on his record definitely made me wonder. You just don't see them often. It shows at least some level of competence even if the opponent was a novice.

I just guess we'll find out if the fight happens. I really do hope it happens. Imagine the press and build up to that fight!

I haven't been following this much because I don't care about CM, and I was never a Power Rangers fan. My little sister watched it but I never really did. Video is a little stalkerish, but facts are facts. JDF has already made that walk to the cage several times, has trained in more relevant, applicable martial arts for much much longer. I say make the fight Dana. Green Ranger is at least recognized as legit, even if he has only fought lower level comp. Give both guys a chance to prove themselves, as that is exactly what each one wants to do. Might be a mismatch, but judging from what I've seen of JDF's fights (source: this thread) he has zero TDD, almost zero footwork, and barely any head movement. I'd say the comfort level of striking (range, taking punches, cardio ) is there for JDF, but his technique is not all that impressive for a 7th degree black belt. Then the grappling I would say is a wash. Only issue I see is Frank looks to be like 230 lbs in his fights, and I remember Punk saying he would likely fight at MW. If JDF can drop the 35-45 lbs then make it happen Dana.

Also, I stopped watching wrestling when ECW folded so I'm not the most well informed on the business as I was 10-15 years ago, but ALL of Punk's MMA interviews have been shit to me. Super cocky, arrogant, holier than though dickhead from what I can tell.

Well being a WWE Champion and having one of the best wrestling promos in recent memory. I would think he would have more claim to being a celebrity than JDF. Regardless, I was just correcting the guy who said "murican celebs" because they're not really celebs. I wasn't trying to insult anyone.

Side note: CM Punk only has a white belt because he doesn't want to train under the belt system. He's been training BJJ with Rener Gracie for around 2-3 years so he could be blue belt or maybe even purple belt level depending on how good he is.

Do you have a choice in the matter, isn't BJJ based on a belt system for a reason? And why on earth would someone not want to train under a belt system? Serious questions. I dont understand.

Interested in his debut though, it'll be make or break. Perhaps it would've been smarter to fight in a smaller organization first but we'll see.

When will he actually debut?

And your whole argument has dissolved into the ether.

I was mistaken about the comic con. Fair enough.
You've been mistaken about every single point you've made, since, them being at a comic con was never one of your points, so since I'm magnanimous let's just call that a wash ;)

So, I watched the first six minutes of your hour-long video (which is as far as I'm likely to go) and Punk says "my assumption is that we're drawing from the cinematic Drax because that's what's in the mainstream. That's what people recognise."
His assumption? Punk doesn't even know what version of the character he's going to be writing, and you think that he somehow told you?
They've done these solo titles for two other Guardians characters, and neither was based on the cinematic version. clearly he is uniformed.

He is writing an established character with comic canon.
Punk is the junior writer here. He is going to be babysat, and will have little creative control.

Im well aware that Drax has been around for years, but they are changing his whole personality.

You clearly are not.
They already changed his whole personality in 2008 (or sometime around then). The version that Punk will be writing is a version of the character that already exists. And not the version from the movie.
And you know how I know this? Because they showed the character on the cover of the upcoming title in the video that you linked.

Apology is still waiting to be accepted when you are ready.

I'm going back on my last statement. I think you owe me an apology if only because you have a comic book character as your AV, but you are clearly not a comic book fan.
You're not even a comic book nerd, you're a failed comic book nerd.

Make it happen. Go Go Green Ranger!

I can't find the exact interview right now, but I think I remember him saying it's about his approach to BJJ. I think he said he just wants to go there and learn as much as he can and keep an open mind about everything instead of progressing in the way of belts.

JDF Would fuck him up...Make it happen.

WAR GREEN RANGER!!

Holy fuck, MMA gets cornier and cornier every year.

And I thought this dude was in jail
