Close calls that could have wrecked your life

I was stopped at a light with my infant daughter in the back seat. My wife was behind me in her car. My daughter was in some sort of baby distress and I had to turn around and comfort her. Mission accomplished and I proceeded through the light. My wife told me later that the light was still red when I went through it and I was barely missed by a truck that was coming through the intersection full speed. We never would have known what hit us.

I've had other incidents, like almost backing into people or having close calls with traffic on the interstate, things like that, but that one kinda messed with me for a little bit, just seeing her get hit and all the blood and stuff afterward.

Don't want to sound patronizing but that was good of you, hats off to you.

Driving through a blizzard on the highway last year and I'm going about 30 mph and the car in front of me starts to slow down and swerve a little bit. I notice it and I hit my brakes gently only to start swerving myself. I get close to his car and jerk the wheel to the right and miss his car by about 6 inches. No joke. And we both end up off the highway, but luckily it wasn't a far drop off the road.

Anyone who has ever driven on K-10 in Kansas knows that there are parts with HUGE drop-offs off the highway which would have surely injured me seriously if not worse.

When I was 12 or so I was walking with my cousin, who was about 15 at the time. We are walking in a kinda secluded area, well she tells me to turn around and there is a guy in a white truck slowly driving back and forth clearly staring at us. We start running into the woods(probably the worst idea, but it was a shortcut to her house) we get to her house and tell her parents and they call the cops and cops come and talk to us and tell her parents that a few days before there was an attempted kidnapping not far from here with a car that matched the description we gave.

Not sure if they ever caught the guy..

Scary,Have you watched 'Megan is Missing'?Watch it.It's something to think about for sure.

I have a cpl. First one i was driving with a few friends transporting fairly large amount of drugs. Sheets of acid, over half lb of weed and few bottles of whiskey (under 21). Got pulled over by a cop. Turned out he had found a friend of mine's wallet and pulled us over to return it. We thought we were all going to jail. If i would have gotten arrested my life would be a lot different.

2nd time i was at my house partying with some friends.....i was maybe 17. My friends wanted to go out and i said nah im wasted im gona stay home. They left and i heard shooting a cpl minutes later. They had stopped their car in the middle of the street to fight some gang members, were beating the gang members asses when one of them got a shotgun and started shooting

Edit......the gang members started shooting

As usual ma mang Big Sissah with the fun stuff :icon_lol:

Good thing you sissied out in that latter part there :P

New Orleans, LA August 27th 2005 - I did not have a ride to Houston so I was just planning on staying in New Orleans since the last 2 hurricanes didn't even hit. I figured. "oh its just another small storm HEHEHE"

My buddy called me that afternoon and said, "hey dude, I got an extra seat if you wanna roll to Houston." I actually thought about it for a minute or two and weighed my options... But eventually I told him I would be ready when he arrives to pick me up.

Houston, TX August 29th 2005 We are in Houston just chilling at my Aunt's house after a trip to the beach. Just happen to turn on the TV. Hurricane Katrina HIT!! and MY JAW DROPPED!! Total chaos, floods a plenty, and the roof of the Super Dome caving in.

A chill from the top of my head to my toes had stunned me enough to almost lose balance and had to sit down. BULLET DODGED. My friends were giving me the "I told you so!!" treatment all night long.

Side note: A day or two later we also got to see Kanye West say, "George Bush don't like black people" on LIVE TV.

I don't think stepping on a blanket with a baby in it would cause serious harm. I guess it depends how heavy you are and whether or not you were stomping around angrily.

How did that work out? Did you actually get high or just black-out fucked up?

ps: Glad it didn't work. No woman is worth a man's life bro.

The Heroin overpowered everything. Most extremely powerful heroin high of my life.

And yeah, haha. Made for a cool.little poem that I wrote about the incident though

I have one.

One summer,me and my friends were in a car and we hit a guy.We then thought he was dead so we buried him.

We got away with it though.Strange thing is all my friends mysteriously died the past couple of years.

Hmm,something is written on my monitor screen."I know what you did l.......

I was 20 driving on the freeway coming home from work at around 1am. I was going about 85mph when I saw a figure jump over the median and try to jump in front of my truck. I swerved last possible millisecond and avoided him. I look in my rear view mirror and see another car coming. As im exiting I hear the screeching of the tires and the guy get hit.

It shook me up. Next morning I got a call from my ex telling me Joe got hit on the 210 last night and is dead. He was a great friend of ours and killed himself that night. I almost killed him. The paramedic on seen was his best friend. He didnt recognize the body at first until they found his legs and pants 200 feet away on the opposite side of the freeway. He checked the wallet and saw his best friends ID. That was a fucked up year for all of us.

Man this story gives me the chills every time I hear you tell it. Condolences SG.

Heroin, oxycodone, hydromorphone, fentanyl. And if they didn't get it from me, they would've gotten it from someone else. Get off your high horse

Edit: and I HIGHLY doubt that prrson would have Narcan shots ready in case shit hit the fan

Not really on a high horse for pointing out that illegally selling people opioids and then 'saving' them when they OD doesn't make you a hero. But you think what you need to to be able to sleep at night.

^^lol

the only thing I can think of is dating this girl for a while, thank god I had the intuition to ask her. She had herp (down there). So yeah, I took off like a bandit. lol

i had been so pumped to see the Dark Knight Rises in the weeks leading up to it. my friends and i had gotten the tickets well in advance. on the day of the actual event, we opted to go get something to eat at a local diner. on one of the main roads leading to the diner, we had one of those scenarios where i was in the right lane (as the parking lot was on my right coming up), another car was in the left lane, stopped because he was about to make a left turn onto a side street. problem was, this family was attempting to cross the street and the guy in the left i guess had waved them to cross (completely neglecting, of course that he couldn't control the people in the other lane and that his presence there was actually obscuring the right laners nearly along side of him from seeing the people cross).

so i'm in the right just as these little kids dart across the road a couple of meters in front of their parents. BRAKE! i literally stopped within inches of hitting these kids and they were young enough that they sure as shit would have been badly fucked up or died.

so yes- if ever i doubted three things, they were reaffirmed that night:

1- there is a God.

2- Hondas are fucking great- my accord stopped on a dime basically saving these kids

3- The Dark Knight Rises is awesome.

i'll never forget how horrendously horrible that could have been. The Dark Knight Rises helped to calm me down and just enjoy the movie.

i was 19 and the girl i was seeing said she thought she was pregnant

turns out she just overreacted but she scared me half to death..

At an old warehouse job I was an order selector and rode around on those electric pallet jacks. The one I was using that day was an older one that looked quite worn out. Anyways, when you engage the brakes, you kinda lean back as you brake. Well, I applied the brake as I was pulling up to the railing near the staging area. For some reason, the brake didn't fully kick in when i applied it. Instead it was like it hiccup where it was an abrupt stop instead of a gradual slowing down. It was enough force to cause me to lose my balance and have 1 foot step off the operator platform as I was coming up on the railing. I literally had a split second to pull my foot up on the operator platform before the pallet jack slammed into the heavy duty railing. I promptly took a bathroom break to take a contemplative shit about nearly having my foot turned into ground beef.

Attempted OD. Was young and though I had found "the one". She went back home for two weeks (did modeling for extreme sports companies-every single one you could think of). On the 15tg day I wake uo to a text from her. I'm happy cuz I ger to wake up and talk to.her :) not as good as waking up next to her, but you get the poing

The text reads: "I still love (ex-fianc

had a car cut me off last August on my bike and went over my handlebars at 30mph. Had it been 3-4 seconds later, when I went sliding across the oncoming lane, I would have struck by a dodge truck... and died. OR, had I decided to not go left but go right, I would have struck the car that pulled out infront of me, and probably died.

I slipped a guy's attempt to hit me in the head with a crowbar and it ended up breaking my buddy's jaw behind me.

about 5 years ago i was really hammered drunk and drove home from my friends house. I hit a little girl on a bike. I always wonder how my life would have been different if I had pulled over instead of leaving the scene.
