He did the same kick against Thompson and then talked crap when Thompson complained about it. Kick should be banned though.

Other fighters had complained about those kicks for years now but nothing has been done by the commission

Heel hooks and kneebars attack the same area. It's a legit technique. Same as Jon's shoulder torque he did to Glover, harsh but effective This is a brutal sport.

People need to learn to check them, just like they do with other leg kicks.

Funny how people are fine with Ariane Lipski fucking up that one girl's knee with a kneebar, but a sidekick to the knee is just sooooo wrong. :p
The main difference being that you can tap to a kneebar before damage is done. You can't tap to a strike until after the damage is done, unless you just choose to quit fighting the second someone starts throwing them.

If people would actually target the muscle (quadriceps) instead of the actual knee joint, the move wouldn't be as bad. But still, people should be attacking joints in submission attempts, not in striking attempts.

Do you really want to see someone trying to stomp and break someone's ankle while clinching against the cage? What about someone trying to extend an arm and then throwing a hard elbow into it with intention of hyper-extending and breaking it? People don't do it now, but people also used to not throw calf kicks at all either...

I really don't want to see fights ended by injury.

Best part about it

“I want soccer kicks back”

You're right. I'm just saying other fighters complaining about it but they're not being banned so they have to learn to counter it.

Thats not the same stuff. U can always tap before a sub, but u need to think fast. At striking depwrtment, kicking right the knee is just a shit move

If you cannot understand a simple conversation, don't get in the middle.

Watching mma does not make you handle violence. Enjoy your ego.

people who are squeamish about violence don't watch mma

That's expensive, time consuming and put fighters away from competition. Tearing ACLs, MCLs and so on should not
be a staple in the sport. Eventually the entire roster will have shut knees.

Should be banned IMO.
But brain or liver damage is fine? How about elbows to the downed opponent hitting eyes? What about leg kicks? Condit got completely fucked up knee from a low kick that landed on his inner thigh. This is a very dangerous sport. Most fighters (except some human POS) don't want to hurt their opponent. They need to win the fight and have to use what the rules allow them..

because nothing should be done.

Till was just starting to grow on me, but I cant fucking stand fighters crying about that technique. This is fighting. mixed martial arts. if you dont want to be kicked in the knee, take up pure boxing. or find a way to defend it.

Till wants them banned now huh?

Thompson complained about Till's use of it after their fight and Till responded.

“I saw the interview did,” Till told MTKGlobal in a recent interview of his own. “If he wants leg kicks banned, why don’t we ban spinning head-kicks to the face while we’re at it?

“I was not trying to hurt his knee. I was trying to deaden his leg to stop him using it. That was my strategy. I know he’s had surgery on his left knee and I was not trying to cause him another injury in that area but this is a fight and we’re in the most brutal sport in the world. In my opinion, you can’t really come out and say you want this thing banned or that thing banned.”

That is unfortunate the timing is really bad as he change angles thr kick cane in

If you were to do a regular leg kick, you could hit the knee. So only kicks at a certain angle should be legal? All techniques are designed to hurt. Simply avoid the technique sideway stances are vulnerable to this technique, but are more mobile. You're giving karate fighters and advantage this way. These men concuss each other for a living. You can't start banning legitimate tools because they're dangerous in a dangerous sport.
