He also seems to be getting better. Against Tom, that was IMO going to be at best a coin toss, but I found him impressive lately.

Supporting Gane, Blaydes is the opponent I fear the most.
I can imagine Gane's wrestling training may (or may not) lead him to deal better with brute force, less technical wrestling, like what happened to him against Francis, but I doubt it would be enough against Blaydes.

IMO he's not saying he wants to avoid him at all costs. He's been clear that he wants another title shot soon, he wants to be champ. He said he'd be OK with an interim championship fight though, and if the UFC asked Gane to fight Blaydes for an interim belt, he'd do it, obviously. But I'm not sure the UFC really wants that fight to happen.

To be fair, we just don't know how things are shaping up regarding Jones & Miocic. Hell, we don't even know if Francis has signed a contract.

There is so much uncertainty that planning your next move 6 months in advance is just stupid.

Which is why you guys are reading way too much into this.

He's asked if he wants to fight Blaydes, why would he say yes and potentially tie himself to this fight before even knowing what the UFC wants to do ?

And, I'm pretty sure that if the matchmakers decide to make Gane vs Blaydes, he'll take it because he's far from having the star power to dictate his match-ups. His job as a fighter is to aim for the gold, not to prove something to dudes on a forum.

Exactly.

He would be stupid to call out Blaydes or pre-accept a Blaydes fight and by doing so automatically give up on potential Jones/Stipe/Ngannou fight for an interim or undisputed belt.
And he can't fight for the next 5 months anyway.

Still think Aspinall can do it if he comes in healthy and stays calm. Using his boxing instead of coming in wild like last time.

The last fight really soured people on Aspinall because Sherdog has a serious recency bias problem, but I still think Aspinall is a future champ if he's healthy.
 
I wont say its a complete duck because he hasnt been offered it. Still though, the Gane favoritism is clear. Other fighters would get killed for this

Tom is good. If he recovers well, he'll continue to improve. I just think Curtis is a handful right now.

It seems like Blaydes isn't a winnable fight for anyone except maybe Ngannou lol. I say give the guy another chance
 
Blaydes' only losses are to the 2 hardest hitting guys in the division. Gane doesn't have that kind of power and Blaydes is a very good fighter.
 
If any of us were Gane, we'd duck Blaydes too.

Pavlovich wrestled since he was a kid I dont know if that can stop Blaydes though but Pavlovich said recently he is 265lbs. He fights at 255lbs jacked though
 
it's the worst stylistic matchup in the division for him. he knows what he's doing staying away from him. but those excuses are lame. it's pretty much what any fighter can say about any fighter ranked below him, at any time.

Easy.. just slap the Interim Heavy Weight belt on the fight between Blaydes and Gane and BOOM.. fight signed.
