He also seems to be getting better. Against Tom, that was IMO going to be at best a coin toss, but I found him impressive lately.Gane is being smart, I think he should stay away from Blaydes. He is too raw in the wrestling still.
Blaydes is a very difficult fighter to beat, lets remember he only ever lost to 2 guys in his entire career, and they were just 1 punch KO's out of nowhere. No one has given him a real whooping in any fight.. I warned people on the Tom 'new greatest p4p fighter ever' threads that this is a very difficult matchup, because I haven't seen that 1 punch KO in Tom so far. Shame it ended like that but I feel Blaydes is much better than people think, he has beat up everyone he has ever faced, yeah he did lose to Black Beast and Ngannou but they were just 1 punch out of nowhere type endings that always seem to happen in HW, and I have yet to see that 1 punch KO in Gane, more of a volume guy.
I can easily see Gane getting stuck on the mat like Overeem and beaten up badly.
Supporting Gane, Blaydes is the opponent I fear the most.
I can imagine Gane's wrestling training may (or may not) lead him to deal better with brute force, less technical wrestling, like what happened to him against Francis, but I doubt it would be enough against Blaydes.
IMO he's not saying he wants to avoid him at all costs. He's been clear that he wants another title shot soon, he wants to be champ. He said he'd be OK with an interim championship fight though, and if the UFC asked Gane to fight Blaydes for an interim belt, he'd do it, obviously. But I'm not sure the UFC really wants that fight to happen.
