Media Ciryl Gane explains why he's ducking Curtis Blaydes

It isn’t smart at all. Gane should fight Blaydes who is lower in rank than him but is arguably better than him on paper. It would be a proving fight for Gane to see whether or not he deserves the rank. We UFC fans want bangers, not boring dominations. Shame you don’t view it that way.
Everything Gane said is true...in his shoes, I wouldn't want that fight either.

Why fight Blades, when the potential is there to face Jones, Stipe, or Francis, all of whom are comparatively more favourable from risk/reward and style perspectives?
Jones is planning on Stipe and Ngannou is too strong for Gane at the moment. Gane shouldn’t get the ultimate decision. If the UFC brass wants Gane vs Blaydes, that should be their ultimate decision and Gane should abide by said decision. End of story.

bad matchup for Gane. Gane doesn't have the one-shot KO power that has been Blaydes' undoing. Nor has Gane shown he is a good defensive wrestler. He should hold out for the title shot or a bigger fight. Jones would at least be a bigger fight.

I am guessing you have financial difficulties. It is not that difficult. Championship money is the real money. Not arguably better on paper. Listen to yourself, "fight a lower ranked" opponent for on paper???
Ngannou is going to destroy Gane, especially when he becomes healthy. Blaydes is better on paper than Gane, so he should be able to fight for Gane’s rank. Gane would still put up a competitive performace vs Blaydes and it would be way more entertaining and make more money for the UFC than Ngannou dominating Gane.

This man is thinking, about the "money". Bravo sir, you must be rich as fck.

Listen here extreme white belt, you are contradicting yourself into oblivion. I can't waste my time with you anymore. You can get the last words in. Congrats.

It's funny that you say Gane should abide by the UFC decision but preface that witih "Jones is planning..."

So which is it...do you support the fighters having input into their next fight or not? ;)

Aaaand I'm not a fan.
Agreed. Lost respect for Gane when he ducked this fight. Its not like they are asking him to fight Ngannou. That I could actually understand because of how powerful Ngannou is rather than ducking Blaydes.

UFC is probably planning on Jones vs Stipe anyways. Stipe should absolutely get that input of fighting Jones and vice versa. However, if UFC ends up having different plans, then thats that. I never said Jones will decide whether he gets Stipe or not. I just said he’s thinking about it, meaning its a potential option for Jones. The UFC should consider that opinion and then make their call.

Gane ducking Blaydes is such a stupid move. Again the fighters just choosing who they do and don’t want to fight at will is stupid. UFC should just tell Gane “Too fucking bad, your fighting Blaydes. You don’t make the decisions, we do.” Its annoying when fighters do this dumb shit.

True but after such a big debut event in Paris I imagine the UFC would like to protect Ciryl when possible from the worst possible matchups like they do with Paddy Pimblett. With Gane's broken hand the fight isn't going to be on the table soon anyways, let's see if they avoid making the fight when it can actually happen in 2023.

Blaydes shouldn't have to fight someone like Tuivasa or Pavlovich, there's nobody else left for him that makes sense but Gane (assuming Stipe vs Jones happens.)

Agreed. One cannot be king of the hill knowing that they ducked someone they are in fear of. He has no Champion mentality.

I'm sure he will be more than devastated, and even forget about his broken hand due to your withdraw of approval.

You are a platinum belt, but somehow are more incorrect in your opinions than I am, not to mention extremely rude. I would respect your opinion if you didn’t hold any rudeness towards mine. Are you not embarrassed?

Yep. He needs to suck it up and fight Blaydes. Maybe then he will get the respect of us fans back.

Everything he said about Curtis is true. As a fighter you are looking out for your best Interest and at moment fighting a guy whose strength is your weakness isnt worth the risk. I think it will eventually happen if a title shot is the reward.

Yeah, which is dumb. You shouldn’t be shielding your fighters from the worst. If Blaydes is better than Gane, then let him have his ranking. UFC has no room for the weak at the top. Funnily enough you mentioned Pavlovich and Tuivasa and I actually think that Pavlovich vs Tuivasa would be a good matchup.

Its logical to assume a title shot would be the reward. Winner of Gane vs Blaydes gets Ngannou.

Tuivasa vs Pavlovich makes sense ranking wise but their timelines don't, Pavlovich took no damage vs Lewis and could probably fight soon if he wants. Tuivasa should be sitting out the rest of 2022 after the damage he just took. I would like to see the fight though.

I agree with you on that. Different fighters have earned differed degrees of input into their next opponent...and I don't mean to imply that Gane has that status, I just said that I understand his apparent position of not wanting Blaydes next because that fight does the least for him. I support that position too, from his perspective...but maybe even the UFC's perspective?

The UFC might want to ride the wave from Gane's win and the overall event in France...so maybe avoid giving him his worst stylistic matchup next? If Gane needs a few months off anyway due to hand surgery, hopefully they can get Jones' booked and things will shake out between Jones, Stipe, and Francis before any decision on Gane needs to happen.
