I hate to break it to you, but post recession USA still offers far more safety and economic opportunities than in places like El Salvador or Guatemala.

To your second point, first off, the economy is kicking ass, hence the incentive to come again.
The numbers were very low in the beginning, The increase is coming from two factors, one the democrats are literally fighting for illegals. You know this, or you would dispute the ICE comment above.
Second, the wall is being built, which makes crossing more difficult. Coupled with the fact that after trumps presidency, the absolute anal devastation of democrats will begin to subside and they will return to a sane stance on border security. To put it simply, they’re getting in while they still can.
