Christopher Nolan's WWII Thriller DUNKIRK

Another film that will great upon viewing it once and another in which the viewer needs to come up with their own ending for what happened in his convoluted stories.

Unbreakable is an awesome movie. The last "They called me Mr. Glass" line from Samuel is so stupid though. So forced.

Inception is my favorite Nolan movie. Better than anything M. Night has put out. The Prestige and The Dark Knight are too.

I've never understood it. Can ya explain it to me? Without mentioning any quantum mechanics, string theory, or undead cats.

Of terminator??

In the future, John Connor is the leader of a remaining human force combating the cyborgs/Skynet. Skynet decides to send a cyborg back to kill Connor's mom, so he won't be born. To prevent this, Connor sends a soldier back to protect her. The soldier has sex with the mom, thus creating John Connor - the paradox being that he sent his own father back in time to create himself without knowing.

So what comic strip is he stealing this movie from?

I know what the paradox is. I don't need to know what it is. I meant explain it to me so that I can understand it. When ya said ya understood it, I assumed ya meant ya understood it. Not that ya just figured out what it was. I knew what the paradox was the first time I ever saw it. Just knowing what the paradox is is no accomplishment. Being able to make sense out of it, that's the accomplishment. I had assumed that's what ya meant when ya said ya understood it. That ya were able to make sense out of it.

A paradox, by definition, is senseless or logically unacceptable, a contradiction. There's not much more to it than that. The Terminator paradox is what it is...not sure how to "break it down" for you, guy unknowingly sends his father back in time to create himself. I just don't get head aches from thinking about it.

But you said understanding the paradox was one of your favourite accomplishments at that time. You meant you didn't understand on your first viewing what didn't make sense?

I also said I was 3-4 years old.

Nolan's next film will focus on his greatest strengths as a filmmaker, which is why the mystery 2017 movie will be The Raid 3.

You're an animal that's learned to post on the internet like a man.

That's what you are.

Oh, I missed that part. Fair enough then. What the hell were ya doing watching a violent, gory horror movie like The Terminator at 3-4 years old?

Robocop was my favorite childhood movie, if that makes any sense :P

My dad worked in the industry and taught me well, so I knew from the beginning what was fake and what wasn't.

I fully fuck with Nolan. Looking forward to this.

I look forward to it. I love Nolan's storytelling style, he doesn't treat the audience like idiots. He assumes we'll get it, so he's not afraid to have some complicated plot structures.

Christopher Nolan’s Next Film May Be About WWII's Operation Dynamo

“And Christopher Nolan is coming right behind me,” Quentin Tarantino said in a recent talk with Paul Thomas Anderson about The Hateful Eight and 70mm projection. Tarantino was referring to the fact that, while The Weinstein Company had convinced 100 theaters in 44 markets to install or refurbish their 70mm capabilities, the move was an investment in the future.

Filmmakers like Paul Thomas Anderson are shooting in panoramic formats and Nolan — who often shoots in wide IMAX formats — has an upcoming mysterious film set for summer 2017. Tarantino and PTA didn’t say what that film was, but the implication is clear: you’ve got 70mm installed and someone like Nolan is going to make good use of it.

According to La Voix Du Nord in France, Nolan is prepping a WWII inspired by Operation Dynamo, AKA the near-miraculous evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and other Allied troops from the French seaport of Dunkirk which took place from May-June in 1940. The operation was sanctioned when large numbers of Belgian, British, and French troops were cut off and surrounded by the German army during the Battle of France. 198,000 British and 140,000 French and Belgian troops were saved in the effort.

Patrice Vergriete, the current Mayor of Dunkirk, France, apparently announced the filming of an American blockbuster that would take place June 2016 by a "a world-famous director.” La Voix Du Nord, a regional daily newspaper from the north of France, claims their sources have confirmed that director is Nolan.

VDN writes (via bad Google Translation), “Completely incognito during his recent visits to Dunkirk with his brother Jonathan, [Christopher Nolan] absorbed the territory, its past and the consequences of the conflict.” So if their intel is on point, it sounds like brothers Nolan are currently doing early location scouting.

Report: Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie Is A WWII Film Centered On The Evacuation Of Allied Troops From Dunkirk, France

Oh......my.....God. I will be so grateful if this doesn't end up being some overlong, drawn out, Sci-fi bullshit like Interstellar.

Bring on the "realism".

Nolan is my favorite director out there these days. His story-telling is the best out there right now. A few years back, I would have said that Ridley Scott was the top guy in the business, but that has changed based on the last few films.

It's Official: Christopher Nolan to Direct WWII Thriller DUNKIRK; Tom Hardy and Kenneth Branagh in Talks to Star

Christopher Nolan looks to be headed to France during World War II for his next project.

Sources tell Variety that Nolan will direct “Dunkirk” from his own original screenplay as his next project. Insiders say the yet-to-be cast unknowns will lead the cast, but that Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Tom Hardy are in talks to join the ensemble.

Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner and wife, Emma Thomas.

The story is set during the legendary evacuation of the northern French city during WWII. Nolan and his casting department recently began testing teenagers in London for lead roles, but the director also wanted to nail down some choices for the few adult roles in the film before the holiday.

Warner Bros. has dated the film for July 21, 2017. The large-scale production will be shot on a combination of Imax 65mm and 65mm large format film for maximum image quality and high-impact immersion. Shooting will begin in May using many of the real locations of the true-life events, which form the background for the story.

Christopher Nolan to Direct Action Thriller ‘Dunkirk’ for Warner Bros. (Exclusive)

Meh. I think I've had my fill on WW2 movies.

DiCaprio should've gotten Nolan to direct THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY instead of Scorsese.
