That makes two of us, but Xi Jinping's ultra-competence at running his own country is probably the biggest factor involved. Trump didn't request to gut the funding from the national labs working on QIS in any of the White House budget requests, but the likes of Los Alamos - yes, the same one that developed nukes during World War II - certainly needed more and aside from one ominibus bill, didn't receive it.

Trump didn’t just take his eye off the ball, he has been actively trying to leave the stadium.

He has gone out his way to target big tech. Trump has threatened to split them up, he’s constantly blaming them for everything that is wrong in society and he’s made it harder for them to bring in engineers from abroad, even though most of their employees are immigrants.

How is the US supposed to compete with the rest of the world when the president is actively targeting the companies that are competing on your behalf? That’s like harassing your own Olympic team when they are trying to medal for you.
 
I find debates and discussions about China these days bring out irrational fears, racism and borderline retarded conclusions.

My questions to posters here is which one is it?

Is China this emerging superpower with high-tech capabilities, innovation, competent leadership, industrial espionage and cyber warfare specialist, a unified goal to dominate trade and leadership on the global stage

or

Is China this weak, back-water, self-imploding, bat-eating, disease spreading, patent stealing, concentration camp building, nazi genocidal war-mongers with an incompetent authoritarian governmen hell bent on exporting communism and enslaving the rest of the world.

The answer is somewhere in between, but I think we've reached the stage where most people have drawn up their own conclusions and lack any productive ideas or insights on dealing with China.

It sucks cuz China is incredibly authoritarian and repressive but you get the sense that their leadership is playing the long game. American leadership is just trying to steal as much shit as it can before it fucks off to go work as a lobbyist.

East Asians have a higher IQ on average and there are 4x more Chinese than Americans.
That's it. Everything else is a consequence of it,especially in a globalized economy. Murica will not be able to prevent their development.

Soviets had a higher IQ them Murica also, as did Japan.

Chinas potential is severely hamstrung by the communist's party, their geography is also a massive weakness.
