Law Cheers, Guv Gav for the happiness of California p******!

I have declawed a cat before, but it really mangled her poor paws. It's a pretty barbaric practice that I don't subject my animals to anymore and should not be done. Plus, if the cat ever gets abandoned or runs off, it has less defense against enemies.

You make a compelling case... For our next president to not be 75+ years old.

And Gavin Newsom also make a compelling case for the next president to be younger than Gavin Newsom.

As for who you're going to support for President in 2028, it obviously is going to be Newsom.
You're at least 99.67% certain to support him, given you're a ....
*white woman.
*In her late 30s.
*No kids.
*Live in California.
*Drive a Subaru.
*Bi-curious.
I'm not bi curious, I've never driven a Subaru and I'm 50.
I have other potentials who I very much like but if he's our candidate then it would be neat to have a Californian president being I've chosen this state as our home.

The Futon Fondler called our Comrade Cankles Hitler and had The Cotswolds on red alert so he can ram it.

Amputating is disgusting, if you don't want your curtains in tatters don't have a cat.
I can see my very red town who can't stand Gavin being divided given we're very cat involved with the shelter and various charities/adoption events.

California bans declawing cats under new state law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom

California has officially outlawed the practice of declawing cats after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 867 into law, a measure animal welfare advocates are calling a historic win for animal protection and compassionate treatment.

The bill, authored by Assemblymember Alex Lee and signed Thursday, makes California the largest state to prohibit the procedure, which involves amputating the first bone in each of a cat’s toes or severing tendons to prevent claw extension. Declawing will now only be allowed when medically necessary to treat a health condition, according to the legislation.

In a press release, In Defense of Animals, one of several groups that helped lead the years-long campaign to end declawing, celebrated the governor’s decision. “Declawing isn’t a nail trim, it’s a painful amputation that has no place in a compassionate society,” said Dr. Marilyn Kroplick, the organization’s president. “Today’s victory proves California is leading the way in protecting cats and prioritizing their well-being over human convenience.”
no way i could’ve guessed you loved cats

This shits still legal in the States?

I have 2 cats. My theory on pets is if you don't want your stuff being ruined by an animal don't bring one into your house.
I'd dearly love plush curtains, haha. My house rabbit used to tear off and eat the wallpaper, it's part and parcel when you sign up for it.

is this guy even a notorious child molester? I mean, come on. get serious, people!
Gavin does need to up his molestation game for sure. That may get some people from Trump's base to switch sides. He has a lot of ground to make up, though. He better start now.

Oh man our bunny just passed away after 12 years . Like you said , there's things that have to change. Leaving a phone or laptop charger plugged in on the ground was asking to have it chewed off.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. Mine was pretty much a cat, I litter tray trained him, he'd greet the postman every morning, jump on your lap as soon as you sat down, come up to bed every night.
I hope you had a nice 12 years together :)

a foreign devil moving here to bitch all day every day about her host country whilst owning cats? i mean, you could not be a stereotype
I don't think you quite understand. This isn't a bitch all day every day thread. This is a celebration, you bitter mithery old git.

Haha same. Although the litter got tougher with age he never stopped trying to get to it. They can have such fun personalities. He actually ended up being the alpha of the house with the 2 cats which was always interesting considering 1 was a stray and still came in knowing her place.

My favourite books my Grandma used to read to me were Peter Rabbit and my ex literally bought a Peter Rabbit, his jaw was out of alignment so we used to have to literally trim his teeth so the whole declawing thing puts me on edge because I had to be so careful with his. He was only 2 when my ex had to put him to sleep, he was not a well bunny, he was in the vet every other day with an absess needing to be drained from his mouth. But he had a happy life of Riley when he was with us.

God damn, you’re a moron.

I don't even understand where that came from, is this a thing he's just dreamed up?
Feral and "outside" cats do indeed kill a lot of birds. However they have been made a scapegoat for declining populations. The most impactful factor in the decline in bird populations is human beings.

So because a few kitties bring in the odd birdie as a gift for their mum it's decimating the birdie population? How funny!! Is this a recent event and why we should continue to declaw our cats? Should we just eliminate all cats for the sake of the odd birdie?

It doesn't tie into declawing cats, just a general propaganda movement against them.
