A lot of people keep citing Gaethje's tdd as a reason for why they think he's a hard match up for Charles, but I don't know if these people haven't been paying attention or what. Locking up submissions while standing or while scrambling is something Charles excells at:

And all of those guys are better submission grapplers than Gaethje. This isn't some low probablity, hail marry type scenario for Charles -- he does it often.

Man plus if he does get him down it’s definitely game over. He had no game off his back when Khabib took him down

Gaethje is a poor mans Conor.. him vs Kahbib told the story.. Conor's TD and defensive game was way way better compared to Justin's. .. it's going to be a waste of PPV Justin VS Olivera... Justin as earned the fight though.

This will be an interesting fight. If Oliveira doesn't fix his defensive flaws Gaethje will always have a chance.

But if the fight goes on I see Oliveira taking over and subbing Gaethje on the feet or the ground.

I love Oliveira but Gaethje is going to be an extremely difficult matchup. He’s going to get rocked badly and I don’t think Gaethje will let him off the hook like Poirier did.

Clinch will be interesting, I like how both use it a lot.

I think gaethje is going to avoid the clinch range like the plague. He can fight long with leg kicks, but Charles has that muy thai stance that is built for dealing with leg kicks. Also, gaethje is very hittable to the body, and charles attacks the body often. Not to mention that even if gaethje knocks charles down, he's not going to follow charles to the mat and charles will have a free few seconds of recovery. I don't think this is a good match up for gaethje, but he has a punchers chance and charles is there to be hit at times.

justin has a punchers chance as always.

olives is a tough fight for anyone now that he found his way.

When did Dustin let him off the hook? Dustin knocked him down, then jumped into oliveira's guard and quickly realized it was a mistake, so he disengaged. Had he disengaged sooner in the second round, he never would have spent the whole round on his back.

If you mean that Justin will make Charles stand up much sooner after hurting him, thus giving him less time to recover, then I agree.

Charles with chin & recovery is a scary ass mofo

It looked liked he was gonna fold a couple times when Dustin hammered him but he kept with it and kept pressure.

I was saying leading into the Dustin fight that he needs to watch for that standing back-take he likes to do when clinched. Justin is squirly as fuck but has a lot of holes and Charles would lock-down his back too.

Any version of Conor from 2016 onward loses to Gaethje, easily.

Edit: I am referring to Gaethje of today

Justin being good at scrambles certainly doesn't hurt him. Better than being stationary for sure

Lol what are you smoking noob.. Justin lost to Alveraz and Dustin in the last three years and beat cans besides Chandler

He also has good striking and a good clinch game and took Chandler down and put him in trouble and Chandler's got very good TDD and defensive sub grappling. Oliveira looks to be a lot more well rounded than Gaethje and has more ways to win, should be a hell of a fight though I think it could go either way but I have Charles as the favorite.

He's still far more proven at LW than Conor and has looked much better in the last 4 years or so than Conor.

I was about to make the same thread but I lack the knowledge in wrestling to know how would a wrestler respond to the body lock
