Changed my opinion on O'Malley

O'malley learned from his fight with Yan and improved his TDD. this tells us that hes not full of himself
and is willing to learn and not be too attached to what the ufc and fans want him to be.
he could afford to be a piece of shit like Conor, the goof will protect but hes genuinely a nice guy.
the way he handled Aljos bullying is a testament to his character.

Hate to admit it, but I'm on the same boat.

O'Malley looked impressive, and the way he handled the victory — no showboating — just serious shit — was serial-killer impressive.
Yes, I think that was the part that won me over the most, no showboating or gloating, or throwing it in anyone’s face, just remaining focussed with his eyes on the prize, he’s got a winners mentality.

Lol.

"He won so I guess I like him now"
No, not exactly, he’s been winning this whole time, but if you wanna misrepresent my post and ignore all nuances sure I guess you can spin it however you like.

The belt changes everything for people. So who do you hate now?

Ehhhh...

Aljo fought like an idiot, chasing the better striker and lunging at him rather than fight smart and try to work his game. He only attempted two takedowns and threw more strikes than Sean. O'Malley threw the perfect punch while Aljo rushing in face first was idiotic. Great punch from Sean. Nice footwork and dictating range to make Aljo a bit uncomfortable and fight out of character, but we didn't see enough to conclude that Sean's TDD was light years better.

My opinion was always that he seems like a douche but he's a good and usually entertaining fighter so whatever

compared to his recent fights I would say he improved. but ur right we need to see more

Not a fan of his by any means, but he continues to impress and get better. It wouldn't shock me if he goes on a run, but I'm more curious how the UFC matches him up going forward than anything else.

He is actually* pretty humble and laid back if you listen to what he says and ignore the face tats and gimmicky shit.
His personality is quite different than his "image"

*with the exception of "soundbytes"

But as far as answering questions he is for the most part just honest and straightforward .

I can understand if people feel he is "fake" for promoting himself or for using his image to make money.

I don’t know man. A few years ago I was at an MMA show in a small town in Kansas. During the middle of one fight, the referee dropped his pants and took a huge shit in the cage. Then he fell over and passed out. He had some kind of massive stomach problem. He left there in an ambulance. And he left a turd in the cage. That was so gross.

Hated him around the time of the Chito fight. As a Yan fan, I had to start respecting him after the Yan fight. Realized at the same time he's not a bad guy. Just looks stupid.

At the very beginning you could definitely consider me a hater cause the whole schtick and the UFC push.

I'm still not a fan of the schtick, I mean the guy looks fucken ridiculous at least aesthetically represents a whole generation of fentanyl addicted degenerates, and attention seeking narcissists.

That said, to be fair to O'Malley, he only seems to use the image to get him that extra hype, but doesn't actually act like a complete idiot. He doesn't really embrace any heel persona, he just kinda looks silly and cringe, but for the most part comes across as intelligent and calculated both verbally and obviously in his fighting style.

I was still rooting against him vs Yan, but after that fight I quietly told myself that this kid is both pretty good, and pretty entertaining, and is actually probably not the douchebag he looks like. Piotr was clearly triggered at the weigh in and gave him a shove which is always pretty douche, and to Sean's credit he took it like a complete professional and went out and did what he needed to do.

Going into the Sterling fight I was very perplexed about who I wanted to win... on the one hand I still considered the fact that O'Malley as champ will probably bring back the insufferable Conor-type turds to the mma community, but on the other hand I never took Aljo all that seriously as supposedly the top BW... and not to bash him or anything, the guy has some real skills and obviously accomplished a lot, but the thought of him leaving BW as champ didn't really sit well with me either.

At the end of the day, O'Malley is a guaranteed exciting fight regardless of who they match him up with, and his skills are undeniably impressive, and aside from his appearance the guy is really not that obnoxious, the things he says are well measured, he's not just spewing garbage, and he seems pretty realistic and level headed in his outlook. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say I'm a fan, but I can appreciate him and enjoy his fights. He's still very young but he already shows more maturity and mental fortitude than someone like Izzy for example, who I want to like but he just makes it impossible for me.
When you look past the gimmicks and characters played for views, most guys in this sport are pretty cool and intelligent.
