Chandler vs Pimblett is a mismatch

It’s a “fight” literally designed to get Paddy into the top ranks. Chandler is 38 years old & a company man, who knows how to be a Good lawn chair and Paddy was never good enough to break into the upper echelon of the division.

This is textbook UFC marketing, the script is sitting on the table open. I can’t believe people are taking this seriously.
What's the script? Is Chandler going to throw the fight? I don't believe that.

Paddy has terrible striking defense and was getting tagged by Jared Gordon, he’s also a brawler and brawling with Iron Mike is a recipe for disaster, unless you’re an elite striker like Poirier or Gaethje.

Chandler is a tough night out for every lightweight there has ever been. He finds a degree of success in every fight, I just don’t see Paddy taking those bombs (which he will)

Gives me Diamond vs BSD vibes.
Oh yeah, thats why Green destroyed Paddy. Oh wait

Chandler pretty much throws every fight he’s in.
the guy doesn’t fight to win anymore, he fight to be “exciting”

And dude if you can’t read the writing on the wall I’m sorry. It’s pretty blatant.
He does fight to be exciting, to his continued detriment. It's not just to be exciting though, he's also not good enough to hang with the best.

I can see how the UFC would like Paddy to win, you can do more with him. But Paddy's still gotta win, and he's got to win for real, we've seen ridiculous judging but I don't think we're at a pre arranged fight fixing level yet.

A lot of people thought Green would smoke him on the feet too.

In the end that was not the case and it was Green who ended up desperately seeking a takedown and getting subbed. Like Green, Chandler is a veteran who has shipped a ton of damage in recent fights. Better, but older and looking at a significant size disadvantage.

Chandler might as well take a WW fight. The size difference will be massive.

I don't think so

Chandler is a little overrated right now

Paddy is VERY underrated

Still a dangerous fight but there's a high probability of an upset here.

Chandler isn't as good as he once was. His fights are just him winging haymakers.

That last fight had Paddy confident enough to take it and there's a reason for that.

Paddy finds comfort in his size advantage and the fact that Chandler is ancient in fighting years, and he may be right, but I do hope that this calculus blows up in his face.

Maybe, but Chandler has an uncanny knack for going full ree ree and losing fights that he should win.
Yep. And it's not like Chandler KO's all of his opponents. The only real offense he had in 5 rounds vs. Oliveira was when he eyepoked Charles then hit him in the back of the head a bunch of times. I don't remember any good, clean striking from him.

Granted, Charles is a lot better than Paddy, but he's always been hittable as well.

That’s what makes this exciting. Either we get a highlight real Paddy finally getting flat landed. Or we see Chandler getting embarrassed by a joke fighter. It’s a win-win.

It should if Chandler was in his prime. You can't just repeat how elite the strikers at LW are forever, age is going to catch up to all those guys. Dustin, Gaethje, Chandler, all just want to get a title shot, roll the dice and quit for a reason. Someone like Paddy beating the shit out of Chandler after Olivera had a competitive bout might blow some people's minds around here.

Doesn't help that he's a white belt on the ground and Paddy is a bjj wizard as well

If it somehow ends up there, Paddy most likely chokes him.

I've said Paddy has been underrated for a long time

I think he had one bad fight against Jared Gordon, who had a really good performance with his hands.

People are way too quick to write off fighters.

It's not about highlighting their worst moments, but their potential.

Paddy always had potential, just needed to get out of his own way and sometimes a bad fight will put those pieces together.

With all the "training" Paddy still does not seem to improve on his skills but he finds a way to win. He will win this one as well.

Paddy has improved everywhere

His hands still suck though, but his defense is better and seems to fight smarter.

Needs to get with a good boxing coach

100% people here bring up the worst fight that fighters they hate had and act like that's how they fight every time. Paddy is young, well rounded, big for LW, and has power. The time is right for him or someone like him to make the old guard look old. I don't think he has a chance against Islam, but I don't for most LWs.
