Chandler is criminally overrated

i feel prime chandler would have been bodied in the UFC
By some guys sure, but he could have bodied a couple of top guys too, he took Eddie to the limit while he was really inexperienced, who would go on to be a UFC champion.
Considering how many split decisions all those guys have with each other, I'd say he was on the same level as Eddie, Pettis, Bendo, Malendez and Thomson.
Hell his first fight with Eddie happenned around the same time as the Edgar Mayniard title fights, wouldn't shock me if that version of Mike could finish Frankie where Gray failed to.

He came to the UFC way too late to show his true worth

He hasn’t fought very smart at all and barely uses his wrestling anymore

He's shit on here regularly for being washed up

Came to the UFC late after 45 wars
Except it was only 26 fights before the UFC and many of them were easy. The only fights he may have taken any real damage in were the Alvarez and Brooks one...and the flash KO by Pitbull if you want to count that. But not the Sydnew Outlaw type fighters.

He was on the older side when he came (34 I think) but we know have BW and flyweight champs that age...so I'm not as sure about that being too old for smaller weight classes any more.

I never got Chandler hype his career is based on Eddie underestimating him which Eddie came back to avenge in the rematch.

His fans in this thread talking about Pitbull as a big win, idk why because he won a Bellator title going 1-1 Queally. The good Pitbull brother smoked him.
Bensen henderson who was 7-7 in Bellator.
And Hooker.

Like how many other fighters would be able to beat these 4 guys? Alot.

Even if he came a few years earlier, I don’t think he would have been champion, for sure top 5 and contender but thats it imo.

He made the best of his UFC career and it was good decision to sign with org, his portfolio grew and has opened up a few avenues for a post fight career, thst cant be said if he stayed in Bellator.

Bendo was around 5 years beyond his UFC champion days, too.

was he the greatest fighter? no, not by a long shot. but he has had a helluva career in Bellator and a so so career in UFC.
He's always exciting.

I don't get the hate.

LOL, "criminally overrated". He must have stole your girlfriend and burned down your house.

He has two wins

Dan "turtle in the tree Hooker" and

Tony "seven-losing streak" Ferguson
Not only that, Chandler and Gane run a tight race for the most proficient cheaters in the UFC.

You can't talk shit to a guy for relaying information that's true about a fighter. Sounds to me like someone have a man crush.

Most damage is taken in fight camps not the fights themselves.
But also for Chandler it's a case of him being outdated by the time he came to the UFC. In the mid 2010 he was an elite lightweight fighter, not so much in the 2020's, not only because he got older, but what it meant to be an elite lightweight changed.
Also I do think that he did fight dumber to an extent to be more exciting in the UFC.

I agree, but I also think he stunted his development by staying in Bellator so long, fighting mostly lackluster competition. And while he did look elite against Eddie, he lost twice to Will Brooks who was a total flop in the UFC. And Brooks came to the UFC around age 30, so he wasn't washed.

He may very well have been elite in 2010, but it's a little hard to assess him because he didn't fight the kind of competition he would've faced in the UFC from 2010 to 2020 (RDA, younger prime versions of Ferguson/Bendo/Cerrone/Nate/Gaethje/Poirier, maybe Khabib, etc.).

Watch him get the White House fight against Conor and have TS explode in a rage :)
