Carnal's treatise on heavy Iron

Not everyone believes SS is the be all and end of of getting stronger. Its definitely a good place to start if you know nothing else. I used it very briefly. I have seen a lot of people here start that way and get stronger. I think people are open enough for other ideas. Especially new lifters...

Yeah since S&P became S&C I think people have become a lot more open minded and less "SS and GOMAD or gtfo" in their attitude, especially in recommendations to newcomers.

I really wouldn't know much about it. Most of the guys that used to post here are gone, I reckon. What with the MyFace and the Spacebooks.

Probably the biggest thing I would do differently, if I re-wrote this, is focusing on presses over bench presses. My neglect of the SOHP for so long was a crying shame.

As a powerlifter, what you can OHP doesn't matter. As a guy who's just trying to get generally stronger...it really matters.

I was going to ask you this. Thanks for posting it. Hope you stick around.

Best bump in a while. The treatise helped me tremendously through the years.

I really wish I would have known all this stuff and been in the right mind set back when I started college (about the time this was posted apparently), I could be so much stronger by now...but, Im glad to have found this place and Im still going to get strong using these principles, even if it is a little later :P

Nah. Tasty coma wife is doomed. They won't ban him, they'll hunt him down, cut off his balls, and send him to Australia. Or something like that.

All the gain for us aussies!

Great bump, I still read this from time to time.

Yep, born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan...hell, I've never lived further from "home" than Kalamazoo, MI. And I'm a damn proud Michigander despite the sorry state of affairs here.

Michigan is sorta like America's Scotland.

I have got to just pile on here and say thanks, TCW, for helping me out with training.

Of course, yes.

As long as the P&B exists, and they don't ban me, I will continue to post there.
