Carlson Gracie Downtown Chicago

anyone knows who trains there how much a month training is, and if its a good gym for someone who wants to try fighting in the cage with proper training
 
great gym for mma. no idea about how much it costs though. probably around 100 a month, maybe a bit more since its in the city.
 
I hopee its 100 bucks not like alot of 150plus MMA gyms, not everyone is fortunate enough with a lot of money that wants to train and have a shot =D
 
I recently moved to Chicago and visited a number of schools to pick a new place to train. Carlson Gracie in downtown Chicago is a SCAM. The sales representative Jimmy lied to my roommate and I about the pricing and contract, then fraudulently billed us even though we were not students and never attended a class after our first and only trial class. When we contacted Eric at membership services, he supported Jimmy. Apparently this is standard procedure there.

The facility itself is mediocre. No shower area. Few students in general, and even fewer advanced students.

There are a number of great BJJ gyms in Chicago with more integrity.

Carlson Gracie Jr. is moving locations to a new location in November. This is going to be separate from any school that is -currently- operating under the "Carlson Gracie MMA" name. There have been issues with that management group.

I recommend you report the improper billing to your credit card company and note who the payment was made to. If you don't mind, what was the specific company name on your credit card statement?
 
As Jeff said , Junior isn't involved in the Carlson MMA schools. He is opening his own school in Logan's Square November 1. I, too, had billing issues with that group so I sympathize. I'll post some stuff on the new school soon. There's some pics on the Facebook in my sig. Juniors school will have showers, I can promise that since I've seen em.
 
Juniors new school is going to rock . Schedule will be posted later today. There have been some issues since we moved out of fitplex but the new school will be juniors own school for the first time. It'll rock socks.

The credit card bill appeared as TFC*MMA CHICAGO

I've already disputed the charges and am filing complaints with the attorney general

Even though there have been many breakups since Carlson Sr. passed, there are still quite a few high level purple-brown-black belts in the gym every time I train there. It is a shame that there have been so many splits, the gym could have phenomenal training sessions. Chicago tournaments might get boring though if all the schools remained Carlson though.
 
I am new to the Bjj world. I will admit that I am a member of the wabash gym, Carlson Gracie, or soon to be former Carlson gracie Chicago on wabash. I have had zero problems. I enjoy the gym, instructors and team. My only complaint is I was told when I joined that Carlson would be teaching. I witnessed him in the year I have been there teach maybe a handful of classes. And even then he left early and had Someone else finish the class. I am loyal to Isaac and find him to be the better of the group. In my opinion of course.
 
As for all of you claiming fraud. Those are big words and I would hope you have evidence to back that up. If it is hear say I would suggest not going that route. Specially if you signed a contract and have no other evidence. They could pursue legal action! I would choose my words wisely. Why would you not ask for confirmation in writing? Why would you give your credit card for something you only wanted to try? Sounds like you are mad you forgot to cancel and want to blame someone else for your misstep.

You realize your post count and join date raise suspicions, right? Sure it's possible you're legit. It's also possible you are a troll account of the accuser too.

FTR, I'm skeptical of the other claims too. Perhaps the truth is really in the middle. I just believe it's hard as fuck to run a successful business without some anonymous Internet troll talking shit and making unsubstantiated claims. Hence, my skepticism.

I suggest checking out the Better Business Bureau complaints about the gym. I'm not the only one they've scammed.
 
I am sure I know as much as you do, do to the fact it has come to my realization that people here have a big mouth. Truth is Carlson Never taught. Since day 1. I was told he would. Nothing against him he has earned his right to not teach but don't put blame on other Shen since day 1 he never taught. If you people think he is going to be teaching at the new place and that why you are leaving then that's a joke. If Carlson was part owner then he should supply some equipment. If you are trying. To knock my profession at planet fitness you obviously have lower intelligence than I thought. The funny thing is instill see most of the upper belts training there. What happened to being open in October? More lies. Truth is there are 2 sides to every story.
