What the deal with this? Are illegitimate black belts common in Chicago?
 
NO. That was a quote that Ben took from the press release, it isn't his opinion.

But I would agree that the language could be taken as subversive.

I am aware of every single black belt in Chicago, know many of them, and have rolled with many as well and I would not consider a single one of them to be illegitimate. Details of this are on BJJinChicago - Covering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Chicago and Northwest Indiana

I agree his choice of words make him sound like he is questioning black belts in the area. But i doubt that is the case.

Brendan maybe a Chicago blackbelt roster could be added to your site?

Weird all this Chicago talk, since I'm probably moving up there in Oct. I'll have to check around the Aurora area since that's where I would be working.

Did the school open yet?

I see the date 8-29 but not sure if that is the opening date or not.
 
The school opens this coming Tuesday.

new breed is going to be taking over at ffc.....Izzy is opening his own school in River North and the Big Dog will be teaching at counter strike untill Jr's school is ready to open in oak park around october .....Jason's gym in the city is temporary for all the chicago Carlson Gracie Students untill Jr opens his new gym... they are letting us pay month to month... this is coming from a student who is there every day... if you want the email they sent me pm me your email and ill send it to you :icon_chee
 
Izzy opening in River North? Damn, another friend I have to compete with :/ Chicago is gonna have more schools than Rio soon!

Last I heard, Iszy was opening a school in the North Loop. And Junior will be teaching at the Wabash School and the(coming soon) suburban school. Even after the Suburb school opens, Junior will still teach at the Loop school as well. He lives 5 minutes from it and has a part of it. Daniel will be teaching at the ‘burbs school. Junior and Co. figure the people who want to stay in the loop/city will have the downtown school and people who live further out/don’t mind driving more can hit up the Suburban school.
